It's ok. Standard coffee porter. Maybe a bit fizzier than I'd like my porters to be.

Not a typical item posted here but I had heard it was tasty (as compared to standard Bud). And it is pretty good. Not great but a step in the right direction

I love that one. Do u find it has a decent amount of caffeine? All these stouts and porters “brewed with coffee”. Seem to be hit or miss on keeping me up all night.

This one is delicious, good rec

A good finish to the night at Potent Potables...

I grabbed a couple bottles this year, felt more pricey than I remember from prior years. I think I paid 28 before tax, my buddy in no paid 22 which seems backwards

Btw what makes it Canadian anyway?? I read it’s “aged in bourbon barrels that recently stored Michigan maple syrup”...? I may have bathed that quote from beeradvocate but was surprised because I always assumed it was Canadian syrup, unless our friends from the north recently got into the bourbon game...

We may have to do a little bit of a tasting to find out how much different they taste lol.

I can tell you that the one on the left in my picture will probably taste much different...
The ABV on the older CBS is a full % lower than the newer ones

Probably just a name that plays off of the maple syrup aspect. Canadian Breakfast Stout sounds much better than Michigan Breakfast stout lol

Well found out the reason for the mountie getting thrown.... the actual Mounties asked them to remove it. Upper management, most actual mounties loved it. Ran into one of their reps at the local beer cave.

They did a similar thing in 2015 when their breakfast stout label was found to actually not be registered so they removed the baby and just had the chair. They paid the fine and brought the baby back the following year.

As for why its canadian. It is made, or was in the last four iterations, with bourbon barrels that also used to house canadian maple syrup. If it has been changed to Michigan syrup I would guess it was either due to tariffs or not being able to find enough of the canadian stuff since they have pretty much tripled their output this year of this iconic brew.

This has actually been on my radar to try... but finding just one is proving to be difficult and don't know if I want a 6 pack of it.

Well whatever it is, they’re doing something right. All of their aged barrels beers I’ve had have been fantastic except for the rum-runner one that just reminded me too much of college spring break.

Love backwoods bastard, kbs, cbs, karmuchines better half etc... all fantastic

Allagash white Belgian style wheat beer.... not bad closest thing I’ve gotten to a fancy beer! But I’ll be visiting lowes food tomorrow heard they have a good selection.

Caffeine affects me as well, but I had no problem sleeping last night. I only had the one to finish the night after a winter lager and a sweet josie brown. I liked all three, but I would definitely give the nod to the stout, very tasty.

“Holy cow good” is a huge deal coming from you!!

I have these for ya Jason, to go with your new Ruger:
