The wife and I took off for our honeymoon to Bali 🍹

Spotted probably 20 beauty 40 series cruisers while over there, including this rig.

The engine was caked in oil and had been leaking pretty noticeably. I figured it needed a new valve cover gasket but I wasn't expecting it to be this shot.

Out with the rusty crusty wheel arch/dog leg. This was definitely the most daunting task I've undertaken with the 60 but I think it came out pretty alright

After a bit of a hail storm mid-welding, I got it stitched up. It isn't art but it's all solid and void of rust

These are the kind of build threads I love. My 62 is crusty in a few spots and I'll be doing my first-ever body repairs soon. It's encouraging that you've never done body work and you're getting those kinds of results. Are you using patch panels or making the patches out of sheet metal?

thanks, I was lucky enough to buy some factory rust-free wheel arches/dog legs. The quarter panels I shaped myself out of sheet metal. If It is within your budget I would recommend sourcing factory or reproduction body panels, not necessary but certainly is convenient.

Once I began cutting and grinding I uncovered a previous repair which had since rusted out underneath a good half an inch of bondo 🙃

At the bottom of the quarter, there was about an inch and a half of mud and dirt nesting in there, I could hardly believe how much I was digging out
