I got a 2h engine rebuilt by PO. When running the oil pressure is high around 75 to 80 % mark. I asked a mate and he said it might be high flow oil pump. Would this be right?

I also got a 5 core radiator and drive around the city, the temp gauge goes just above c. When driving for about 2,5 hours to a camp site. Temp goes up to about 1/4 to 1/3 of the gauge. Would this be normal? The coolant looks to be in really good condition.

sounds like the rebuilder got the oil clearances right - good oil pressure. But I wouldn't leave the motor running cold - check thermostat, if it's ok, try hotter thermostat

What if I get a turbo kit? Will make engine hitter and perform better.

The 2F and 3FE are tractor engines which are also used in forklifts. They are not meant for high performance. I have never met anyone with a turbo so I really can't add more.

Sure can go turbo!!! Pleanty of 2H turboed engines!!! But you gotta know what you are doing, 2H are old and in many case tired engines if not reconditioned at some stage. Treat it right with proper tuning, don't go boost crazy, and you will have power gain and no trouble!!!

I have the same temp gauge issue with my 3FE swap and I have confirmed with my IR thermo that I'm running cool. I have a 185 degree thermostat (second one) and I don't believe that's the issue. I believe I'm running rich.

Now, if you have a diesel, and its displacement was the same as say a 2F, it would need a smaller radiator because diesel engines wast less heat. If the engine is smaller, the radiator could get smaller yet.

The more efficient the engine, the less wast heat which means less cooling loads and cooler quieter exhaust. It's very possible your radiator has too much cooling capacity. It's easy to tell, just cover up part of like Semi's do when it's cold out and see if the temp stabilizes. Semis are a good example of so much excess cooling capacity they have to literally block airflow to the radiator in cooler weather.

might as well chime in, i drove my cruiser 2h powered all winter and the temp gauge never went over 1/4. heat blew amazingly hot and has a new toyota thermostat. low on the gauge seems to be the norm i think?

if you have concerns about oil press and temp .. better check with mechanical good quality aftermarket gauge .. peace of mind.

My 2H has done that for years too, always at 1/4-1/3, no matter what the outside temp is.
It only ever went to 1/2 when I towed something heavy uphill.
I'd say the temp is normal.

As for the oil pressure. On the highway, mine always sits at about 75% (2000rpm). And with the oil closing into the 5000km mark, the pressure drops a bit to about 70%.
And it sits at about 33% when idling, and 50% around town.
