I bought one for $10 shipped to my door. I worked beautifully till I decided to switch to low on the cordless drill. On high speed it would stall if it grabbed to hard… on low it sheared the flutes off the rheem.

Hold on a sec and while I check where I bought it…

Edit: Ali express. It worked perfectly on a 555 mini truck TRE to reverse the taper so I could use a 60 series damper on my P/S conversion.

It was either this one or very similar…

I had a link but it led to a bunch of advertisements so I traded it for a picture and you’d have to type something in the search bar. Even though it was a taper, I just clamped a regular chunk onto it.

It was likely a #10 or #12. Measure your minimum and maximum size and decide what is best for you. To do it over I’d buy a spare and then the first wouldn’t break.

I think Cruiser outfitters sells a variety of pitman arms and will taper to your needs.

Thank you Sir. Ordered.

I checked the package… it was a #12. I’d highly recommend going slow and using a drill that can be stalled easily. Variable speed drill in high speed setting and go as slow as possible. It’ll stall it a few times but based on my experience, that’s way better than too much torque and sheering off all the flutes.

Use a good cutting fluid and a tap handle. Tool will last a long time - sometimes slow and steady wins the race. The advantage of hand power is you can feel the cutting for issues and its slow enough you can check your progress often to make sure its cutting straight on the original axis.
