Lets move forward with some dates. Then I will have a deadline to get my junk running.

Okay, I'll start.

Thursday, October 24th. I have to be in Tampa that day for a meeting anyway...

I know some people that could not make it that would have liked a Saturday get together. Just sayin'

Enough interest to do the transfer case at the same time? It might mean your open for a few more beers though :) I would be game to swing over on a Saturday. Can bring tools, press, etc as needed.

I'm going to send Luis a PM as suggested.
If he can't help, maybe the three of us can just try to tackle it and see what happens.

Steve mentioned the idler shaft as possibly being in need of replacement. I already have that as it was included with the rebuild kit I got from cruiser outfitters. So I think i'm ahead of the game in that regard.

So, i'll wait to see if Luis can possibly help out and if not, if you guys are game then we can just try to get it done.

We can use my garage or yours - it doesn't matter to me.
You guys decide where and when it would be most convenient and efficient for you.

Thanks again for all your help in getting the word out!

Keith

In the event that Luis and Steve are unable to assist, you may want to keep the truck in your own driveway in case it doesn't get finished in a day. Do you have a spare vehicle to use in case your truck is down?

Make a list of what tools you have on hand and what you may need i.e. air compressor/air tools jackstands, Jack's lift etc. I have a cheapo transmission lift, Jacks etc.

I can't believe the transmission shop missed that bolt. It seems like they would know; or at least be able to research that. I wonder how much prying and hammering they did to the transfer case trying to get separated.

Pat - Yes, I do have another vehicle to use and I hear what your saying about keeping it home in case we don't finish. But I want to make it most convenient for those helping.

I have the following tools:
  • 1 pair 3 ton ratcheting Jack stands
  • 3.5 ton jack lift
  • Cruiser Outfitters rebuild kit - bearings, seals, gaskets, idler shaft
  • McNamara gear
  • Metric sockets, wrenches and most of the basic tools.
From what I have read, I believe there is some kind of press needed to get the bearings on and off and maybe some kind of other specialty equipment to get a "staked nut" off or something??? I'll have to find that link again.

I'm in regardless

If KG arranges something with Luis, I guess we could still proceed with a local get together. We'll just make it far enough away from KG's wrenching party so we don't detract from it.

We could try it on a weekend. It could be a nicer/different location. Maybe a restaurant even. A Saturday or a Sunday afternoon.

A few years back we had a get together at Kojak's restaurant late on a Sunday that had a great turnout.

Good idea. Maybe that restaurant on the Tampa side of the Courtney Campbell- (used to be Castaway, now Whiskey Joes maybe). That way you have both a restaurant and the beach and it's also central for the Tampa people.

I'm not sure if you can park on the beach there or not.

I'm there pretty frequently. Love the place:D
Not sure there's beach access though, but I'll check with management. They do have the tiki hut, and I'm sure we could arrange "group parking" for the event.

I'll check on both in the next few days and get back with everyone with the information.

Tim here, I'm new to land cruisers and have a 97. I'd like to get together, and can make most evenings, or weekends. Whiskey Joes is great, beach access would be nice if its available.

Look forward to the date.

I could care less about football, but it is football season.

If there's football fans amongst us, we could do it on a Saturday.
If not we could do it on a Sunday.

How's Saturday 10/19 or Sunday 10/20 work for everyone?
Anyone prefer different dates?

Saturday the 19th works great for me.
