Went to load the 40 on the trailer and found I don't have 4WD ...... 2F/4 spd/ToyBox/Split Case/FJ60 axles, FJ40 Diff., 30 spline longs & hub gear, Aisin lockouts.

Front DS turns when driving until the front tires hit the trailer then it stops when the tires stop. I can't shift from 2WD to 4WD on the split case and the shaft appears to be bent to the passenger side and is leaking around the shaft. Hi and low work okay in both boxes.

I'm not that familiar with the spllit cases.... what do I need to be looking for..... WTF is going on????

Thanks,
Mike

sounds like your front gearing isnt engaging. The shaft will turn if the hubs are locked. If the engagement (external shift) shaft is bent, it wont allow the gear that slides over the shaft inside the t-case to engage the inner shaft=no 4 wheel drive. Get out the wrenches!!!

Should have mentioned the front ds will turn without the hubs locked. I purdy much had it narrowed down the bend shaft, which is not allowing me to shift but just wanted to run by y'all before I dismantle the thing........

if you need to go over the trailer .. easy trail fix, disconect the lever and rod of the front t-case actuator ( pass side clost to the front DS ) and move it manualy .. it would allow the inner fork move front and engage the front DS ..

It's the actuator rod that I suspect is bent. I've disconnected the linkage and can't move it by hand or by dead-blow..... I pulled the actuator rod from my spare split-case..... kind'a sucks I'd hoped to sell the spare H42 and split-case here in a couple weeks.

I don't think that you can move it by hand .. ( at least I can't ) but with with a tool that allow you hold the lever and move it

Here's what I hop is the probem..... Had to beat the snot out of it with a 3 pound sledge to her out. I'm purdy sure it got bent when my front drive shaft let go at the case.
