Check the new prototype rear e-locker actuator guard from WildWestFab.com. Prototypes are 3/8" thick steel. They're made specifically for 80-series trucks. I used this armor on the recent 20th annual Rubithon run and no problems at all. Lovely work and peace of mind cos even from Cdan those actuators are spendy!

Rob truly no offense here I know you meant well but that was a hijack...more appropriate for a "Who makes e-locker guards?" thread. For example, if someone posted a pic of, say, a new bumper from a new company, would you jump right in with, 'hey world, don't forget XXX makes a bumper too'?

Certainly not a big deal, but if we're doing a comparo then we should note the Slee is 1/4" and the Wild West Fab is 3/8" thick. And for the record I use several Slee products (dryer skid, t-case skid and tie rod on my personal 1995 FZJ80, their gear is great. Just wanted to give a new company a bit of PR...it's all good.

Um no. I want options. And I always love seeing options. I have only ever seen a Slee guard for the e-locker. This is another option. But for people who have never seen the Slee locker, its good to be able to see them side by side...so to speak.

If you wanted to ONLY speak of the 3/8" one you have then maybe that should have went to vendor marketplace. Then there wouldn't have been a "hijack".

I don't think either of them where wrong in doing what they did and we need to get back to the topic...
 
It was no big deal, Rob is a good guy and no offense intended.

The Wild West guard is bolted on the diff side using existing bolts/nuts, and through a weld-on tab on the opposite side. That way it's supported on both sides from impacts.

It looks to bolt-on. with something added to the housing?

I think a bit of a rattle-can tuneup on the axle housing is making it look like a weld.

Don't forget Tim Lund is a straight up top drawer guy and I hope he keeps the 80 stuff coming from Wild West... Not say Slee is not a good company. Just, I personally had some dealings with Tim when he was with ARB and he went way, way, way above and beyond to make sure that I was taken care of first class. :cheers: I am glad to see that he is making go of it on his own.

Sorry no hijack intended...will happily delete. I just got mine and thought it was really well done was just trying to share without starting a new thread.
 
Nice to have another product available. I would have to get a better look at it to see if it addresses the issue I had on the one I run BENT GUARD For the record I was able to bend it back in place and still catch some threads where the one bolt pulled out, but I have a fear of it happening again. And I'm not product bashing here, just showing my experience, I can show you a BUNCH of other Slee products I'm running and love :cheers:
 
I think he has hiems (sp?) maybe?
