Well I made sure to install Slee's e-locker guard before heading to Rubithon. Turns out I made a lot of contact with it on the rocks. Upon inspection at home I found out that the contact with the rocks pushed the guard away from the diff and pulled out one of the mounting bolts from the e-locker housing. The bolt did not shear but the threads stripped out of the housing. I can not tell what would have happened if I had not run the guard but I most likely would not have pulled a bolt out. I might have had clearance and been fine or I might have taken out my e-locker motor. I don't know if this is something that is likely to happen to others but I thought I would share it just in case. The motor is still flush with the housing and it still works fine but I do need to fix it.

First pick is on the inside where the bolt is put through the guard, e-locker motor and into the housing.

Hey Jeb,

The trail was much worse than I expected but still a ton of fun. Really glad I ran it in the 80 but next time will be in the 40. I used if not abused every piece of armor I have put on the 80 and it paid off. I was extremely impressed on how well Luke's bumper held up although I did push my cooler basket into my rear hatch a bit, I wasn't expecting to be coming off rocks high enough to hit that thing!

Do you have enough room to install a "Heli-coil"?

Drill out the threads tap & install the heli-coil and it actually is stronger than the original threads.

That would allow you to re-install a bolt to hold your skid plate.
I have used them several times on VW engines where the head studs were threaded into the block. Good luck!

X2 on the Heli-Coil. Those things have been a godsend to me working on outboard motors with more work on them than some celebrity people.

Never heard of one before. I will look into sourcing one and seeing if it can work in my situation. Thanks for the heads up on it.
