Hello all,

Wrapping up an install of new front sway bar brackets on my 80 and I can't seem to get the torque to 76 ft lbs.

I have both washers set on either side and nothing is spinning. Any ideas?

If you're not holding the stud with an allen wrench, that's probably your issue. When I did mine, the studs sort of set themselves once they were partially tight, and then I was able to finish them with the torque wrench and socket.
Interesting are you taking about the Allen wrench at the end of the stud? Meaning you can't use a socket bc it'd block the Allen hole. So you use the Allen wrench to set it in plane then torque?

Here is a pic of the new vs old. I reused the washers.

On install, the stud will just spin in the fitting/mount on the frame and it will never get tight. That is the purpose of the allenhead approach. Once it is snug, then you can put the allen wrench away and tighten it down with a socket of box end or whatever you chose without further rotation.

Mark...
