I put a magnet on the car that my kids loved but it looks like it has left some surface rust that I want to get rid of - any advice?

If the other 2 suggested methods don't work, a rust remover solution (like CLR or Whink) containing weak phosphoric acid can convert and remove the rust. But, any acid should only used as a 'wipe it on and rinse it off in a few seconds' kind of thing. Whatever you use, clean and wax the area well when done. A magic eraser sponge (again, used lightly and minimally) might do the trick if you don't have a clay bar.

Just be happy you didn't do that to your Tesla CT
>> This guy used Bar Keepers Friend soft scrub to get it all cleaned up but I don't think that applies unless your rig is a sheet of stainless steel lol

Try a non acidic iron remover if you want the safest way possible. Something like iron-X. Otherwise clay bar should do the trick with some effort.
