transport needed for a small item :-)

is there anybody from the north coast that could transport an FJ45 top only back north ? i can't make it to S&T. :-(

I'm probably going to drive down on Thursday. What should I look for? Land Cruisers on the beach? I don't think I've ever been to Pismo. GOD I'M SUCH A NOOB.

I'll bring drinks. Non-alcoholic drinks. Cause I'm not 21 yet.

Which way are you driving down? Are you going through SF or over to i-80?

I'm leaving around noon from vallejo, driving down 680 to 101. Let me know if you want to caravan down.

I might be able to hook up at that time (if I can get my crap together in time).

Let me know and I will pm you my cell.

Anyone by chance starting out of or driving through San Jose/Cupertino? I've got a set of 62 springs that have been there for a month+ and I would like to get my hands on them. A 12-pack of your favorite beer can be chilled for you in trade when I get there Friday afternoon!!

This is my first SNT, I will only be able to make it up for Saturday, I will be flat towing my 40, I am thinking I dont want to drive the tow rig out on the sand, even though it's 4X4, is there someplace to leave a pick-up for the day? Either at the Grand Ave or Pier Ave entry? I dont mind paying to park. Steve

Ham radio frequencies

The Mt Lowe repeater operates on a frequency of 147.36 Mhz. A CTCSS (PL) tone of 127.3 Hz is required to access the repeater. The repeater does transmit PL. It is located 2624 feet above sea level at Mt Lowe near San Luis Obispo. This is the W6FM repeater system.

This repeater is linked to the Williams Hill repeater which should give solid coverage from Chular, just south of Salinas, to Paso Robles. It operates on 146.73 MHz with a CTCSS of 127.3 Hz.

That's about 125 miles of HWY 101 North of Pismo!

I'm not sure where you might pick it up from the I-5 Corridor, but I suspect the Mt. Lowe repeater would be accessible on HWY 46/41 near Cholame or Shandon.

Again, Mt. Lowe is easily reachable from the beach and sand dunes.

Coming from the South, the W6OBB repeater in "Sunny Santa Barbara, Tower of Power", 147.000 (+) 131.8 Broadcast Peak, Santa Barbara County. I hit it easily from the dunes and have talked to people as far South as Thousand Oaks.

Simplex
As noted by Cruiserdrew, I'm suggesting the "NorCal" simplex frequency, 146.46 for the majority of the during event communication.

KI6TLC
Jim, the W6FM repeater is on Echo Link. Cool! I already worked someone in camp. Forgot their call sign but heck the rest of us can kinda listen in and dial into some of the fun. I hope we can have a short QSO some time this weekend.

Let me know if anyone has HF in camp, maybe we can set up a sched.

Take care,

Jim

repeater out on the S. side

darn, seems like the 147.000 repeater in Santa Barbara is out of commission from what I've been told. Have been monitoring and trying to raise somebody on there and nothing, so I asked on another repeater and somebody said it's out of service.
No clicks, nothing.

There are some other ones around. Jim?

I think we're probably going to end up leaving around 4, since my buddy doesn't get out of school until about 3 and we have to drive back to his house and get his stuff.

Thanks for the offer though. I don't know which way I want to take yet. Either the 101 or the 580 to the 680 to the 5 to whatever.

Anyone know what the best way to take is? What about you guys from Novato and Santa Rosa, what routes are you taking?>

Jim, that's cool about Echolink, I didn't know if it was on 2M or just the 440.

Eric, sorry to hear about the 147.000 repeater. Are there any others on Broadcast Peak? They would likely reach up here as well. What do you use?

not sure really. I don't think there is another one on Broadcast Pk, but there are some on Santa Ynez Peak, very close and Gibraltar Pk, further E. Don't know much about those. Oh, there is also a 440 version of the Brdcst Pk one, supposedly, but have not used it and may not be working either. There is one that is used quite a bit on 146.790. That is K6TZ, the main Santa Barbara club one, but it's on a 400 ft hill so I don't know that it'll go to Pismo.

Sorry, right now, I'm scrambling to get my stuff together, so can't try them all...

Well try Mt. Lowe when you get over the hill.

Too bad about the other it worked well.

I'd say if somebody needs to, try 146.790, they are a friendly bunch.
I'll be on simplex most of the time.

Kids these days. . .my age never seemed to stop me. (And we all saw what that resulted in at Rubithon 06 (had to say it before either Andy or Jim did)).

Tomato...I camp on the dune side just east of the SnT sign the Jim always puts up...the group I'm with ranges in age from 21-26. Stop by have a drink  (that's a virgin drink the happy face guy is holding:flipoff2:.)

My friend spent a week in jail for having blowing a .02 and lost his license for a year.

I'd drink a beer, but I'd not drive. That's just silly.

And what I meant is that I can't buy alcohol. Cause of being under 21. Stupid laws.

Just having a little fun...T, no need to go on the defensive. Your choice to drink or not to is solely yours and everyone will respect it either way.

Not to get too geeky on the radio thing, but that William's Hill repeater has amazing coverage on the East side. I first hit it about Santa Nella on I-5, and had clear access into the repeater all the way to the base of the grapevine. Noone seems to use the system and at one point I got the Mt. Lowe machine, triggered the Williams Hill repeater and switched in time to hear the squelch tail on Mt. Lowe. What that means, is that from just a little south of Stockton, you can talk directly to the beach on the linked repeater system! We'll try that for real tomorrow. Very cool.

That system is very quiet, and noone is monitoring it most of the time. It should work great for Surf and Turf if the sponsor doesn't mind us using his machine.
