It was great meeting you RocDoc. I hope your trip to Specter was fun.

I was the one going to Specter. Sorry didn't get a hold of you, I hammered down to get things done and was out of LA before noon. I also just got back late last night, had to cut my trip up the coast a bit short (halfway through Oregon) cause I was running out of time.

Had a good time, nice to meet all those that I did, and special thanks to Dan and his wife Mickey for their hospitality.

Cheers,
Deny

damn, had to miss this one cuz of an emergency...

looks like good times again!

living (a bit) vicariously through the pics!

Well, we will have to invite you down to Anza Borrego or the Mojave Desert this winter so you'll be more inclined to hang out once you get there. :)

I lived in San Diego for two years while attending UCSD and always wanted to go out to Anza in my truck (89 4x pickup) Never made it out there. I would love to go down there for some wheeling, but we travel the state so much for the kids club soccer that the last thing we want to do is drive on a weekend off. We live in Arroyo, but she plays in L.A. for 12 weekends straight, then at least once a month for the rest of the year. Maybe we will take the cruiser down one of these times and do a little afternoon wheeling next time we are in Lancaster of something. Anything around there or San Bernadino? We end up in those two holes alot.

We wondered what happened to you Eric. Even tried raising you on 2M to and from SnT. Not much activity at all on the Santa Ynez repeater. You've got a local glider outfit or club that also uses 146.460. Listened to them flying around for quite some time talking about the thermals, ridges to hit, etc. Not one of them ever identified themselves and I got to wondering if they were even licensed!

snt 2008

It's part of the fun: any conditions, any time. Even with the s***ty wind, I didn't want to hurry up and get out of there...

Plus, for six hours of driving, I damn well better have fun!

Thats exactly the point. If I was to drive further to get there, I would stay the whole time and make a fun weekend out of it.

You have to love the beach and dunes for "tread lightly" there is absolutely no trace we were there!

Thats good news. I was surprised at how much trash was blowing around further back in the dunes Sunday afternoon. There was big swirling collections blowing around in the windy bowls.

Andy and Mike, you guys need to "man-up" and spend the night on the beach. :flipoff2:
Heck, you can sleep in the wagon. The sunrise is worth it! We'll have to plan a localsonlys overnight. I will admit I lived here 10 years before I spent the night on the beach, fifteen minutes from my house. ;)

I had my wife talked into camping out there, but some of our crew got derailed at the Poly football game and around 5pm the warm non sandy couch with the a movie sounded pretty good. Some locals only stuff would be cool to get to know our locals without the overwhelming number of people at SnT. The toy run kind of thing would be fun, too bad were out of town this weekend.

YAY! (((hugs))):D
Yeah, I got hugged by Monniepoo! ;p

Got one in "real life" too! ;)

:grinpimp:

E9999, good to hear you missed SNT. I was worried someone got a little carried away "digging in" and had completely buried you and your Cruiser.

:D

Would it be possible to get full res of the doggies and the green 40 on the dunes?

If anyone want to download the doggie pic you can get it here.

For the green BJ42 pic, go here.

There are some absolutely amazing photos that you all have taken!!! I keep going back and looking at them over and over.

If anyone has any good shots of my van (or any shots of it for that matter), could you please email them to me stovertileanddesign (at) charter.net

Thanks,
Chris

Jim, I'll be hitting you up for one of those beach party shirts, once I get paid again.

Chris,

I have a couple of cool shots of you and Jack and your "rig" out on the dunes from the poker run on Saturday. My camera and download card and cord are out of state at the moment---I should be able to email you a couple of photos by early next week. By the way, the "rig" looked totally cool

Kristina

Jimmy Jimbro brother, I will definitley take two.

Sheldon and Greg gifted one to me the last time I was at SNT as they were sold out, wear it all the time.

Thanks
Rob

The full color Surf n Turf "beach party" shirts, all sizes and long sleeve too!:grinpimp:

short sleeve - $17
long sleeve - $25

Edit: For my Mud friends.... includes event sticker and SNT key chain!

Timeless 45LV and Surfboard
Plus, no date so you can wear them to work after calling in sick to attend SNT. :D

I should note these are printed with a "four color process". The ink is "in" the shirt, soft and breathable, doesn't make your back sweat. ;)

Kristina, Thanks that would be sweet! This was my first time having it out where people were actually taking pics, so I'm excited to finally get some pics of it in action.

It was great to see you and Pasqual again. Hopefully it won't be a whole year before we meet again.

Supercarrera and the rest of you photographers, remember Henry Brimmer is always looking for large format hi-res artistic photos for his Land Cruiser calendar.

To late for 2009 calendar, it's shipping soon, but I know he'd appreciate material for 2010!

His contact info should be "hbrimmer at msu dot edu"

Which reminds me I need to order a 2009 calendar.

Also, don't forget the TLCA Toyota Trails, that dog photo had "trails end" written all over it. ;)

:D :)

No problem. I'm glad to hear you got home safely.

Got home yesterday just after noon After all the driving, the worst was the last 2 hrs between Calgary and Edmonton. One hell of a cross-headwind.

Lots of new faces, new country and new experiences on the trip. Thanks to Jim and the gang for putting it all together, and a big thanks to Dan and Mickey for their hospitality.

Winslow, Delta, LC and Roscoe say WooF!

You and RockDoc are welcome anytime.

I'm glad you made it home safely.

I have a pic or two of the wife and dogs huddled from the wind, do you want 'em?

That would be great!

The dogs did great in the conditions they were in. The oldest one with Valley Fever actually felt better when he got home than he did before we left. Must have been the salt air and because he had a lot of resposibility being the team leader of the "Brantley Tire Washing Team".

My wife had fun since she stayed warm and dry.
