There's just something about an old red cruiser. 29 years ago today I picked up Red.
Perfect color for a truck or a TLCA banner ;)

That's a real nice green chevy next to the old red cruiser Roger. And I wish I owned one myself. And as you know, more than anybody I know, there is no comparison between cruising down the highway in a 40 series and cruising down the highway in a 2000+ series tow rig :D

Did Big Jim make it back yet?

His tow rig shut down halfway up Cuesta grade, he left with a tow truck to a dealer in SLO on Sunday. I looked under the hood for him, told him uhyup doesn't run!

Yesterday, I passed him as he was Northbond on HWY 101 near Salinas, I was Southbound from SF. It looked like a big white Powerstoke pulling the trailer-ed Cruiser.

That is really cool, Don. I wish I had the opportunity to own an FJ40 since new.

Wow! that would put him nearly a week overdue. Plus his tow rig was that gold brown color. Wonder if it was a major issue and they gave him a loner?

It was me bringing him home. 12 1/2 hours round trip. His tow rig is still there at the Ford dealer (issues) egr leaking burned up wiring harness, computer and some sensors-- should be done this week some time.

Wow that sucks. You're a good man jeeperon...but I already knew that :D

Now thats PMC folks. This inspires me to motion the club for a new award to be presented at Christmas Party. We could vote each year at Oct. meeting on nominations for the Medal of Honor for deeds done in a selfless manner solely for the benefit of another. I will donate a respectable gift to be presented at Xmas party. I really like this idea.

Wow, great idea... Jeeper Ron, as with so many PMC members, is certainly a good man!

short story: a couple years ago at the Hammers, all our trucks were broke except for Phil's buggy. Ron left for home on Thursday morning but Phil was determined to stay till Friday. While I wanted to go home too (bad), I opted to stay with Phil because he was talking about running all the Hammer trails solo.

Ron leaves early.

A few hours later as we began to tackle the first trail of all of them (Jack), we hear a loud Bang from the rear end right in the middle of the cliff on Jack. Phils notes 'This is not good'. Fortunately, it was rear ring and Pinion, and the buggy was able to turn around and limp back to camp.

Then we get this great, terrible, idea... to call Jeeper Ron and tell him we were broke on Jack and needed help... we knew he would turn right around and come back for us. ... Thus we did not make the call.

But it was funny at the time!

<more thread hijack>
I still have fond memories of Jeeper Ron towing me back to the trail head after breaking my rear axle on Fordyce, with a crying Hannah and younger Jr in the passenger seats. It was a bad spot where I broke, and Ron could have merely helped me get turned around and left me. Instead, he spent the better part of two hours getting me all the way out to the trail head and then ran back to catch up with the rest of the guys.

Ron's always been my hero !:bounce::bounce2::bounce::bounce2:

Is this the lets make Jeeper Blush Thread?

What was it 3 or 4 Rubithon's ago Jeeper and Carol wheeled into the springs on a Wednesday. Thursday, very early morning, (I heard him go by while I was camped at Buck) he wheeled back out to loon to pick up some of the Steiners gear. Wheels it back to the Springs. Then picks up an adapter out of Gunners trailer for Gunners rig and wheels it back up Old Sluice. I recall Jim making it back into camp and being able to fix it there.
I may have blended 2 years together.

Dave

You are correct... and the funny part... it seemed everyone driving a Toyota knew it was Jeepr Ron!

He dragged me out of Fordyce too one year... and I meaned literally dragged me up that hill before the 1st crossing...

and I have a feeling he's carried parts for Big Jim quite a few times.

Now lets bag on Jeeper Ron... I nominated him for President at the last nominations and he bawked hard... I noted to Jeeper Ron it was his turn to take the position. While he bawked hard, he did note that as soon as he retires (next year) he would take on the role, but did not have the time right now.

That why he does not have a jacket, those were given to folks who directly took on a leadership role in the club.

His jacket is coming, he just has to assume the position.

Besides, what a great year it will for PMC when we can proudly state 'We're PMC, a Toyota Club, and Jeeper Ron is our illustrious President'! :)

I 'heart' Jeeper Ron!

that's very true, it's hard ti stop something once it's escalated from an event to a movement.

all it'd take to keep it going would be some friends sittin' around the campfire going:
"hey, you know what was fun?"
and the cycle begins again.
