i picked this winch up off a friend awhile ago and siince the truck is getting some major work i decided to throw it on. i have a good ground to the frame and the 12v is coming from my aux. battery (brand new blue top). whats happening is the solenoids just click. i pulled them out and started trouble shoot ing. im getting 12v to the motor in both directions. of the four wires going to the motor itself i have the yellow and blue closest to the drum and the red all the way at the other end and of course the ground on the back side. this is the way it was setup when i got it. i tried a jumper wire and found that the red cable seems to be grounded. i dont know if this is normal. i have searched for a diagram but came up empty handed. any help wouldbe great. thanks

It is usually the solenoid. Both of them (or all 4 depending on the type) need to work.
You can check the motor by wiring directly to the motor. Hook one of the F termials to the A armature terminal (doesn't matter which, just changes direction) and put + 12V to the other F and - to the ground. It should run. If so, it is the solenoid pack. If not the motor is bad.

pinhead, i does have only two solenoids. im guessing that "f" terminals are the 2 closest to the drum and the "a" is closest to the outside of the motor? i will try this. thanks alot
