I'm picking up a used set of ARB drawers from a member on here and want to integrate my 10" sub back in. Currently I have a hole cut out in my drawers for a concealed setup but I'm simply not pleased with my home built drawers. These are the options I currently see as being feasible:

  • Replace the stock subwoofer with a 6" unit (performance will be sub-par)
  • Run a small enclosure and place it behind the fridge, on top of the drawers (takes up valuable cargo space)
  • Create a custom enclosure that fits behind the stock paneling (lots of work, also worried about sheet metal resonance)

The sub makes for the long grueling drives out of Houston much more bearable when we are listening to music or watching movies so I'd like to retain it if possible.

How are you guys handling this?

I recently installed a 10" sub in a separate enclosure on my drawers. It take s up some valuable cargo space, but I tried to save as much space as possible. details and pictures are in one of the most recent pages of my build thread, link in the signature. More Bass for the space.

I dont have ARB drawers, but I do have my own prototype platform in the back so I can't have a huge sub-box. I run an 8" sub (Alpine Type R) in a nice small, slanted sub box with the amp attached to the box, all located under the platform against the 2nd row seat backs.. It's very compact and provides plenty of low end for everything but the lowest notes in EDM/Rap music. I listen to a lot of Rock and Metal and it's very rare there's any missing low end.

You could do an 8 like mine and add a quick disconnect connector for the power and signal wires and have a super portable, unobtrusive solution. I haven't integrated the connector yet because it's so small it hasn't been an issue, but if you're really concerned about space I think it's a good option.

Hmm, I actually have a 10" Type R that I have been really been happy with but wouldn't mind going down to an 8. The drawers are arriving tomorrow so I need to see how they fit and then go from there.

Still open ears to options of folks that have drawer systems and subwoofers

I looked through your thread and enjoyed reading it. Excuse my ignorant question, but does your sub placement prevent you from opening the panel or does it sit behind the opening?

Fabbed this custom size sub enclosure years ago...still working perfectly (50l fridge).

It sits behind the opening side panel, and does not affect the opening.

i have mine behind the drivers seat (dont have rear seats) in the footwell. i dont think short of cutting a draw off that there would be enough room for something concealed. i would just put a box on top and remove if need be.
