Ole! Tarantula is so damn good!Yeah but that's exactly why I don't do this stuff. Like Clint once said, "A man's got to know his limitations." Having just watched the important part of that video, it really doesn't look to difficult but still...![]()

? I know of the album but I'm missing the point here.Ole! Tarantula is so damn good!
No worries. I'm fresh so had to wait for the post to get approved.Thank you, DW, I missed your response. A lot of leads here!
Thanks, DW, good to know. It seems like a possible rebuild would be, potentially, the best and easiest option so long as I can find the right kit.No worries. I'm fresh so had to wait for the post to get approved.
On top off that, that first Dayton speaker actually isn't my first pick... that's a different project and is a full range speaker. Got one of my notes files mixed up, whoops. Don't have the ability to edit that either for now. My first is actually a Peerless woofer but it's not available anywhere...
When ever I pull the trigger, I plan to post how it goes.
This is the easiest path. The sub in mine, is missing... joy. This is the kit from simply speaker that a lot of guys have used with great results. Thanks, DW, good to know. It seems like a possible rebuild would be, potentially, the best and easiest option so long as I can find the right kit.
Tried to post with both links but it's waiting in line again. I'll get there one day. Thanks, DW, good to know. It seems like a possible rebuild would be, potentially, the best and easiest option so long as I can find the right kit.
Out of curiosity, did your order your Visaton speakers based off of @LC CT 's thread? They look like the same one's he ended up with.I ordered this 50w/80w Visaton sub from Parts Express, but I am considered returning it for the Skar wired in series. DadWagon, however, does make a valid point above about the OEM ML amp not having the power to get the most out of the Skar.
Reference of a reference, sorry.? I know of the album but I'm missing the point here.

The Skar isn't a bad option (still one I consider) and it without a doubt has been proven to work well. I'm just looking to see if there's something better.![]()
Thanks but I passed on that route. I'm wondering if the speaker I bought is likely to be a suitable non-subwoofer replacement? When my subwoofer blew, I repaired the foam with a foam repair kit from eBay. The passenger side door was also crackling a lot. Cost me hardly anything for the foam repair kit. Just took a little time to take the door apart and the rear subwoofer. 2000-2007 Lexus LX470 Mark Levinson COMPLETE System Speaker Repair Kit FSK-LX470 | eBay - https://www.ebay.com/itm/153615638828?_skw=lx470&itmmeta=01JRXZJMEKPE3D1WKX2NXR0TA7&hash=item23c434a12c:g:mvwAAOSwNC5dYE2E

Thanks for that as it's my hope too! I've heard from the two local indie auto audio places where one says the same as you while the other said your don't want more than 4 ohms with 2 being preferable. But they haven't worked on one of these systems so... Think I'll just bring it to the dealer.I think it will be suitable.
In an ideal stereo setup, sure. But with the ML system there’s potential to hurt the amp going that low. 8 ohm and the specs on that woofer should be a decent replacement for the factory unit. Thanks for that as it's my hope too! Glad to hear it. That was also the opinion of the Parts-Express guy who spent way too much time on the phone with me pulling up specs, looking at a couple threads here, and reminding me, I could return it if it didn't work out (though I'd be almost as much in shipping costs as the speaker's cost.In an ideal stereo setup, sure. Thanks for responding but I have said a few times that this is not the solution I want. Guess you didn't read through the thread? I hate low bass fq not to mention having no room anyway and a solution has already been found.Another option if you don't mind having a speaker permanently in your cargo area, would be adding a 8" Bazooka Tube (4 ohm, dual voice coil). You have to rewire the interior of the bass tube to make it be in series (8 Ohm) like the SKAR 6.5" sub and extend the factory sub wiring, but it adds quite a bit more bass when compared to the 6.5" SKAR sub. I had upgraded from the factory sub to the SKAR 6.5" sub replacement and didn't think it really put out any bass. The 8" Bazooka Tube is alot better.
