Stupid Q: LC200 frame based on what? (1 Viewer)

The LC200 frame...is it unique design to LC only or is it based on Tundra frame?

I know that Tundra and Sequoia share the same platform/frame. 4runner/GX share same. So, is LC based on one of these or unique in its own right?

(Sorry if this is dumb Q...i am just starting to learn more about LC.)

The 200 frame is its own frame. After Toyota was done designing it, they cheapened and weakened it 20% and created the Tundra frame. The Sequia was built from the weaker Tundra frame both during its rear solid axle and its transition to independence rear suspension.

You don’t have a source for this.

The Tundra frame is open C channel the majority of its length. It is only fully boxed thru the start of the cab.

There is no comparison between the two.

@Taco2Cruiser, I love the way you think!! Better jump on wikipedia and correct the record though. Under the J200 section it says, "The frame was new, derived from the second-generation Tundra but shortened and strengthened by 20 percent." Heresy!

Anyone who has had the pleasure of installing BUD BUILT sliders and the Lollipop nuts from HELL will know the frame is TRIPLE boxed. I don't think anyone is accusing the Tundra or Sequoia of having this feature.

This conversation is exactly why I love the Toyota Land Cruiser... 99% of the people don't know what it is... When I'm asked, I just tell people the Sequoia is the BIG one and the Land Cruiser is just a little bigger than a Highlander. Most people say, "oh"...

The rest of us 200 series fans just take comfort in knowing there are a few of us the enjoy wasting our hard earned money on an over priced Tundra with an enclosed bed... I think you will find the typical 200 series owner's via " Toyoda's internal marketing demographic studies" will indicate most 200 owners are in general socially uninformed, poorly educated, impulse buyers who fail to understand or appreciate engineering, build quality, amortization in production operations or general principles quantitative financial theory put to actual practice.

I'm glad your out there keeping us in line... You should tell the idiots who build armored cars they are wasting their clients money too... I know the world leaders in government and business who are transported daily in these over priced Toyoda 200 series want to save money $$$... You should set them right!!!

I think the smart people are buying "American" pickup trucks for $17,500.00 off MSRP right now...

The tundra has one of the worst crash safety ratings. Does that mean the LX and LC would as well? In my research (they don’t test the LX or LC in America, I found an Australian crash safety test that gave the LC a good rating. That’s why I purchased another after someone ran a red light and totaled my last one. But if it’s true that the tundra and LC have the same frame/safety, I’d likely sell my 200 and move to something safer. Thoughts?
