Can be done if you have time and a welder - if you need to pay someone then add $$$. The nice thing about that new style 79 is the size of the engine compartment - lots of room for goodies if you have the 1HZ or 1HDT in there. I like the idea of the 60 series frame under it - you get wider axles with more common parts, the hzj79 has better brakes that blow the 60 out of the water but the advantage is easier parts access and more rims to choose from. Win win.

Sure would be nice to get these over here. If our goverment wasnt trying to stop it. Mike

How much are they selling for the body???:crybaby: What year is the body???should are around 2 to 3 years, right??

ive seen these.

the bodies are all new-ish, within a couple yrs old. no interior, dash, seats, etc.

not sure what is done with the chassis...

it won't be a driect bolt on. the 75 series cabs are shorter and the early 79/75 series have narrower frames at the front engine compartments. can it be done?
anything can be done with time and money.

The guys that built my deck had some measurements of a 75 & a 79, and apart from a slightly longer cab and chassis the trucks were basically identical, the 79 being 300m longer in the cab & Chassis, and the wheel base 300mm longer as well. The 79 series V8s rear end is identical to the previous model 79 series, and is the same up to the windscreen. From the windscreen forward the V8 is all new, with wider chassis rail for the V8, and hence the width of the front wheels being wider than the back. I know the rear end is the same as my V8 as its the identical deck in width and length to the previous 79 model. So I could take the deck of my truck and bolt it straight onto the same mounting points etc as the previous model. Not that I would want to- but I could

There's quite a few companies in the region that build armoured cars on the LC79 chassis. Rather than add armor plating to the already heavy body, they start from scratch with the armoured body shell. Also much more flexible for seating arrangements and body styles etc.

LC79 is popular because it's tough, and the military use them a lot in their standard form. So it's a natural platform for the light armoured vehicles because it's gonna be common spares for the drivetrain.

It would be awesome to do an Aquala FJ40 style cab modified to match up to the 79 chassis perfectly...
