94 fzj80. Drove to work this morning and a couple of hours later tried to start up and dash lights were dim and no power to starter. Assumed a short somewhere. Investigating I found this relay with connections corroded almost clear through. Just a light wiggle broke it off completely. Anyone know what this relay is? Why would it be all corroded. Is there a quick fix that could get me three miles home.

not sure what that circuit breaker is for. looks aftermarket. but technically you could just bypass it and hook the two wires together to get you to the auto parts store if that really is whats keeping you from going.

EDIT: that must be someones version of the fuse-able link if the big wire is coming right from the battery. Just bypass it to get you going. :meh:

Agree, have seen a bunch of those things fail.

Looks just like the circuit breakers you install when you wire a trailer break controller. As mentioned I would clean the terminals and make a heavy gauge jumper between posts.... Just to avoid complications until you get it fixed.

So I was able to jump start it after I had removed the fuse. I did not connect the wires from the fuse back together. Weird? I pulled the fuse (or whatever it is) and it appears to be some sort of a connector block. But it is completely corroded. I just don't think it is a fuse or relay. Here's a pic.

Eliminate the obvious/easy things first, sounds like a dead battery. If it started without the fuse, it's clearly not in the circuit necessary for the vehicle to run.

Drive it to you local autozone, have them check the battery, buy a new one then figure out what the PO did to the wiring...
