According to most wiring diagram, the stock water temp gauge wire is a Yg coming from the meter cluster.

I can't find it coming out of any looms in the engine compartment.

Before I take the dash area apart, does anyone out there have an idea where it should be on the motor side of the firewall?

What year is your Cruiser? IIRC, stock wiring came out of the firewall, just above the back of the engine.

It's easy enough to pop the cluster out and locate the wire. Disconnect the battery to avoid the ammeter light show! Very easy to do. Also, you can pop the ashtray and shine a flashlight in to see if you can locate the wire.

Unless you are doing a high-end resto you can splice in near the cluster to get back in business.

Hopefully the PO just shoved it back behind the firewall.

thanks...just about everything I've touched should have been "easy". Just getting a little burned out and was hoping for a near miracle.

I happen to have the harness out of my 6/71. I too have Yellow/green water temp wire. The wire to the engine mounted sender does come out the firewall directly behind the engine(as stated above). I took a couple photos for you. Cheers!

thanks! I'm off to sunny warm Florida for a few, but will open the beast up when I return...
