My 60 was recently involved in a fender bender and as a result I will be replacing the front bumper. If I was to install an ARB, now is the time. My 60 serves as my DD in the winter, in addition to being a ski rig and trips to the trailhead in the summer. Curious about others thoughts that have installed the ARB. Does it make sense for a 60 that spends 90% of its life on the street?

An ARB bumper bolted on front will change your fender bender out come to more of a bend them.

stock bumpers are flimsy. ARB make good stuff but I think they are a little overkill for my purpose. I went 4plus as they too are very well built and a little lower profile. check them out and other manufacturers too. I think most of the aftermarket bumpers will with stand fender bender type forces better than stock bumpers

If I recall, ARB is an acronym for Australian Roo Bar.
The original product was designed for the protection of vehicles in Australia hitting roos at high speed on the highway.
They can also be used for the protection of Land Cruisers hitting Hondas in America.

But our Aussie friends down under would know more about this than I.

i love the look of the ARB vs the stock bumper, was very happy I made the switch...haven't run into anything yet either. :)

I originally planned on leaving my 60 with the stock bumper for weight concerns. Then I came within about a foot of hitting a deer at 55mph; within a week I had an ARB bar on.
Several years ago my dad hit a deer at 55 in an 80 with ARB and the only damage was a cracked marker light.

logic goes out the window....with respect to $$ and your 4wd... of course it makes sense to put a good aftermarket bumper on the front or rear or both...

I've bent a couple of ARB bumpers but shudder to think of the damage that would have happened with a stock bumper instead….

with or without, the 60 has a classic mug.
i jumped at the chance when an old style arb was made available near me. there is no doubt that it will do more than than the oem tin bumper at keeping hondas at bay.
i didn't want to cover up it's pretty face, but at the same time keep it pretty in a sea of people that can't drive in the winter.
now i love my arb.

Generally, if you put an ARB or otherwise protective face on your truck it will surprise you how often
people stop cutting you off and treat you with a bit of respect, thus negating the use of your powerful new
front end weapon. ;)

As cruiserpilot mentioned, that big bumper scares people. But even as it intimidates them, they like to grab it. Police in Mexico can't seem to keep their hands off it.
Sure, morons driving Yaris(i) or beemers will scoff at the Mad Max hardware bolted to the front of your cruiser, and pedestians will run across crosswalks, but those in the know, the ARB cognoscenti, will pass each other either on the street, the trail or the parking lot with just a nod.. because we know....oh yes, we know.

oh & I almost forgot.
If you get one, blast off that pussy powder coating and GALVANIZE it.

I drove 12 hours to pick up my used ARB for my 60. I love the way it looks to my 60. I wish I could locate a rear ARB bumper to complete my rig?

Everyone speaks of the strength of the ARB, which is obviously true , but what about the frame of the truck? The energy absorbed by the ARB needs to go somewhere. Have there been any issues with bent frames as a result of the ARB?

it just shares more of the fun with the other party instead of splitting it 50/50.

I had the exact same scenario happen to me almost two years ago with my FJ62, rear ended a Honda minivan and bent my stock front bumper, decided then there was no better time to get an ARB. Bought it new, installed it and have since added my Hi-Lift jack on it and I've never looked back. Love the way it looks and the added utility of it. I say go for it.

I went with my ARB for protection from all the wild, big game running around here. Most of the ranchers have huge aftermarket bumpers on their pickups. If I hit a deer, I'd like to keep the damage to my truck to a minimum. I have an ARB on my Tacoma as well. Thanks Kurt at Cruiseroutfitters. Spring for it, you won't be sorry.

I looked at ARB but I'm on an American made kick so I went 4Plus. No regrets, it would plow through a concrete wall. Just can't sleep buying Chinese made stuff when America has so much to offer... I also avoid Walmart at every cost

the aftermarket bumpers give the truck more "character" from purely an aesthetic perspective, but from a functional perceptive they serve a number of purposes in my mind, winch mount, spare tire mount, fuel and water can mount, antenna mount, lights..etc. I don't much care for the stock bumpers on the front or rear. 4plus makes a good bumper for the 60 too, both front and rear, as do some others.
