Just curious if this is a Mr Toyota drain plug or if this is a replacement plug. My FJ40's with 2F engines had big ol drain plugs.

Just wondering.

looks about right for a 60series.
and the family name is toyoDa.....toyota has a lucky number of brush strokes hence the change for the company name.

Never knew that. Is that why the PS pump caps all say Toyoda?

Beginning in March 1987 The drain plug went from 18mm to 12mm. Very late FJ60s will have the 12mm and all 62s up.

The replacement 60 oil pans also have the 12mm plug. So if you have a 60 that is older than early 87 and it has a 12mm plug the pan has been replaced at some point.

Add another oddball size to the possibles. I just went out to do a pre-emissions oil change and discovered that my large oil bolt is 19mm. Not sure if OEM or not, but just to keep in mind for future searches. I had trudged out with a 12 and 18 open ends, and had to go dig for something slightly bigger.

Clarification: the bolt thread is 18mm, the head is 19.

I have to keep 3 sizes of the gaskets for the plugs around, my Cruisers take 3 sizes, the small late 60/2. 82 Fj40(early 60) take 18mm.......but my 64 FJ45 with the F motor......it gotta be 22mm+++........its HUGE, when you pull the plug......well there is no way to catch the oil, its come out FAST and hard.....so regardless what I use to catch the oil......it just splashes all over the place. I am taking about 2 seconds top and its empty.

The oil pan drain plug head on my '81 FJ60 2F is 24mm.

Here are the NAPA gaskets I use on the plug during oil changes:
Fiber: Part# 704-1076 (size 1” M25, Inside Dia. (0.995” or 25.27mm), Outside Dia. (1.365” or 34.67 mm), thickness (0.093” or 2.36 mm)
Copper: Part# 704-1358 (size 1” M25, Inside Dia. (1.006” or 25.54mm), Outside Dia. (1.425” or 36.20 mm), thickness (0.051” or 1.29 mm)

To catch the deluge of oil after I pull the plug, I use one of those large, covered plastic oil pans. If you don't open all the caps/vents on it, the oil won't flow quickly enough down into the pan and will overflow. It's always a close call...

LOL, use plenty of those...but this old F motor(with oil bath and canister filter) has a drain hole the same size as the white cap drain on the catch pan you show....not kidding, it hits the pan just fine.....but then its like an explosion.

any 2F is a pleasure to me

Hi

Just to revive this one a bit...for all other FJ60 noobs thinking an oil change is no big deal.

Holy crap. I used one of the big plastic oil pans...but oil still went everywhere! Came out like a dam burst. Poor driveway.

I would recommend anyone to use a wide-open, large vessel of some sort. Nothing with a small hole. A large-ish, low-walled bucket would be best, I think. It is what I will use the next time.

The M25 drain plugs are huge (compared to what I'm used to on my old 22RE). Also found it difficult to find the gasket in-stock locally. But the part numbers furnished by Slow Left in 2015 are spot on. Apparently a nearby NAPA has the part and will be going there after the holiday...
