Non-restored, but very cared for and maintained FST 1971 FJ40(build date 9/70). Solid, straight and honest. This rig originally came from Chino, CA and has resided in Austin, TX the last 10 years. Don't think I've ever seen a taligate, rear sill or tub this clean on a non-restored rig. I have a binder of receipts dating back to 1997. It had a respray in Pomona, CA in 1999. While the paint isn't original, it presents itself as thought it is and retains a dull shine. At the same time, the inner tub was painted with what appears to be flexstone paint, NOT bedliner. There are couple of small/surface rust bubbles on the driver rocker and just below the rear emblems.
It's running the original F engine, but had a documented rebuild on 9/27/01. Pistons, rod bearings, cam bearings, cam reground, crank reground, new timing gear. The F pulls hard and runs great. Stock carb was replaced with a Weber; however retains the original air cleaner. 6 to 1 header
Drum brakes, 3 speed transmission with vacuum actuated 4wd. 3 on the tree was converted to floor shift. The transmission and transfer case were replaced in 4/21/09. All documented. At the same time, the clutch, rear main seal, throwout bearing, oil pan gasket were replaced and the flywheel was resurfaced. Vacuum lines replaced on the transfercase. Everything works as it should...all electrics, all lights, wipers, horn etc.
Upholstery is in great condition and was redone on 10/5/98. Unfortunately the original soft top, bows and doors are no longer around. The Bestop Tiger Top is in fair condition, couple of cracks in the rear driver window. Rear heater has been deleted, but one will be included with the sale.
Recent work: new radiator, water pump, 6 blade Toyota plastic fan, points, Denso plug wires
