Not an STLCA member, me nor the owner, but a worthy picture I think. :D

GSMTR 2012 my studs backed out and a couple sheared off but luckily I smelled the grease and found the problem before it resulted in this. That is the second time it has happened.

What's the problem?

Seriously what were they jumping?
Isn't this similar to what happened to you Todd?

No jumping. It actually came apart while coasting down an access trail on the way out since the engine wouldn't fire for some reason.

My truck actually had the same thing going on but I'm lucky enough to have those studs up top so it's easier to spot as well as less catastrophic because gravity isn't working against me so much. The 80 wasn't so lucky. :frown:

Mine sheared @ the rotor/hat junction leaving the spindle attached to the knuckle. This looks worse, but hard for me to see exactly what happened on my phone. I thought when I originally looked at it the axle housing sheared

Nick Sheared the knuckle studs that hold the steering arm on, more of a disaster on 80 because arm is on bottom of knuckle

That is what I thought too.

Posted from a brick.

Not sure how accurate it is but this is the thermometer in my truck at midnight between Yuma and Gilla Bend AZ. If its off by +- 10 degrees that's still friggen HOT.

Sent from my detachment from reality.

Looking at buying this truck from RSHARPfzj80. Needs a little love and some minor body work. I'm up for it. I'll be posting here and on the 80's forum along with my build on the 60's forum.

Some before and after pictures

Dash was really dirty and this is after I cleaned it up. Also got it on the lift and spun the front tires and sounds like gears grinding and something not engaging. Any one got any ideas?

Dang Rance, how many rigs you got in that barn? Is that the 94 that needed the door on the passenger side or another rig?

Edit: yep, that's the one, I remember the stickers from the pics you sent me.

That's her! I pulled the driveshaft from it for a spare last November and put it back in today while Ryan was there to pick it up and........ The damn front end was making an awful sound. Looked on mud and found I needed to pull the 30amp fuse for the center diff lock. Think it might be a stripped drive flange . In low it didn't grind but when put In hi it made the noise. He drove it abt 4-5 miles home though. That's par for the course when your selling something too. Also it's idling high 2500-3k. The intake tube is broke in half do just wondering if that might be causing it to idle high. Ryan (bluehawk) has a thread started asking some ???'s on the problems.

Seems like no one on the 80's forum has any answers. Most are saying to just part it out, they have no idea the potential of this truck or what I plan on doing to it. May just leave the 80's forum all together. The 60's side is much more friendly and this site is way more awesome. Thanks Guys:cheers:

I would tape the tube back together real good and see if that has any change on the idle.

On the front end... you'll need to tear it apart to find the culprit. Start working your way to the diff until you find the carnage.

Any big pieces of metal in the gear oil?

Sent you a PM due to Rance telling me that you are "the man".

I'm trying to contain my laughter enough to respond!

Drive flange looks good with no metal shavings. The end of the birf can be pulled in and out about 1/4". Here are some pics

Yeah I am noticing the same thing, they don't seem terribly helpful anymore and most things I have asked about in the past just drop down several pages and no one replies.

We can start our own 80 thread in this section.

On the front end I would drain it first to see if you see any metal in there. Then just plan on a front end service and pull the chunk and check over everything really good.
