I have seen several threads where people were trying to get the rear end down to level after installing lift springs, particularly OME Heavy/Heavy. Aesthetics aside, I learned that it is to your advantage to have the rear higher when you are doing rough road stuff. When you look at your 60 or 62, note that the front wheels are really close to the front bumper, but your real axle is a much longer distance forward from your rear bumper. This means the when you cross a steep ditch, creek, draw, or some such obstacle, you are more likely to drag the rear end than the front. So, higher is better. Food for thought.
 
Ass end doesn't sag when you put a load in the back either :hillbilly:
 
also not to mention i think the wheel wells are also cut somewhat different ao it give the aperance it sits higher or lower than it actually does.
 
I have the stinkbug and want it gone! It looks goofy, but outside of that it negatively affects weight transfer. It takes weight away from the rear tires when climbing and braking
 
when climbing all the weight is gonna transfer to the rear and actually try and help level out the truck, which could potentially provide better traction.

i think it all depends on how high the rear sits over the front. and that all has to do with the springs you chose.

sooooo many people on here set their rigs up for "expedition" style wheeling so they buy the heavies for outback, then the only wheeling they do is a couple light trails at moab (maybe even a couple tough ones) and or some wheeling at round up down here in texas each february.

either way you look at it that is NOT expedition wheeling. so alot of this "stinkbug" could be solved by people possibly doing a better job of choosing suspension that they will actually USE.

I am not picking on anyone who may or may not have posted in any way shape form or fassion im just throwing it out there.

Hey,
Stinkbug doesn't bother at all, but having a saggy butt on the Cruiser just screams 'shoot me!' There are all these 40s 45s and 60s down here that have the right perch in front, but the tail is almost draggin on the pavement like it was a beagle with worms - you know what I'm talking about! Come on - down here it is like $85 for all new spring packs (per pair of 5 leaves with poly rub bushings), delivered!

I am adding an ARB bumper to the front next week and it will STINK even more! Spacers??? My OME Mediums are pretty new...

I am at a 2 inch deficit now, ... what will the bumper do to this and how can I offset?

that's crazy stinkbug jeffj60...hmmm, some others here just did OME and they didn't turn out like that. have you talked to ARB about it?

I did the medium heavy at the front and heavies at the back... it had a stink bug...

I def did not like the way it look (yeah I know its supposed to be good for yah, but hated the look) so I went and bought some extended shackle and 4º caster shims... for the front and put a 4+ rear bumper... now it seats nice and level when empty..

but it sags when it fully loaded (1800@ + 5 people) with climbing/riding gear....

IMO a 60 should be higher in the back when empty... If it's level when empty it will sag under load.. remember: just a full tank of fuel is almost 100kg's.. then add spare-wheel, some tools, passengers and luggage..

And any car that is lower in the back than in front to me looks awful and needs new springs..:cheers:
 
To be honest, a while back I started a thread about the stink bug look and how I might be able to level it out. Now, after a summer of camping out and doing some wheeling, I’m glad it’s set up that way. Fully loaded with the family and gear in the back and more gear on the rack, she leveled out real nice. When not loaded I don’t notice any negative effects of the butt slightly high when wheeling.

Now the stink Bug look doesn’t bother me so much anymore. I’m going to leave it that way.

What's the concensus on the effect (the inverse stnkyosity factor!) of a 4+ rear bumper on back and an ARB on the front? Is the 4+ heavier than the ARB?

Can you imagine putting the ARB on ONLY! My ass-end would get to places before the front, the damn thing would be so high in the back.

I agree on SOME rake for loaded balancing, but I am tired of looking like the Munsters. Have not talked to ARB, but talked to Curt at Creuiser Outfitters and he seemed to think it was normal and that it would settle. I put 300lbs of tile in it over the winter (I won't drive it in the salt in Cleveland) and it did not settle.

Maybe the 4" shackles is the plan... Do I need caster shims with those? Are there spacer options to offset just a little? :bounce2::bang:
