I need advice on my steering on 1979 toyota pickup 4x4. it has the stock pushpull and i has considering hi steer. but im running the ome 2inch springs and some sites/people say u need a minimal 4". so is any one else running a old man emu lift with different steering? or knows a better steering setup?
ps i have a zlink right now . no real problems to speak of just want to upgrade to something better

I have OME springs on my truck ('87 w/SAS), with hi-steer. I have Sky Manufacturing arms. Ya, it is minimum, and I do have issues with the tie rod hitting the frame on the passenger side. For now I have a large bumpstop keeping it from hitting too hard. I am gonna take another look at it this Spring when I pull the cab off the frame, see what I can do to make it better. I have to be careful, I can't put on higher lift springs as I'll be over the legal limit and it won't pass annual inspection. I do plan to move the steering box some.

you need an adjustable shackle.

Use a shim

What kind of caster do you think you have now?

Shims are a bandaide solution for bad suspension geometry.

I spent a lot of time designing my front hanger so everything would be exactly as stock on a solid axle frame. This so when I mounted up my nice OME springs and shackles, everything would align and work. When I bolted them on, everything was perfect. Caster within spec, no death wobble, pinion angle just right. I'm not messing with that.

Yes, NH is very strict about lift laws, we have to get annual inspections and most shops will not pass it if it's over the maximum height. Some local PDs will pull you over if you are over the limit and check your vehicle.

Some say it sucks, but I don't have a problem with it. Some of the trucks I see from other places have no business being on the highway.

I predict the day will come when my modified suspension won't be allowed, which will be very sad. I've worked very hard to make sure it's safe and strong, my brakes are now much better than the original factory ones.

I am very sorry to here that, it sounds like there is only one solution for you. Time to move to another state. I hear in AZ they dont care what you're driving. So long as you have seat belts and brake lights.

Im teasing of course, but your situation really blows.
