I purchased a steering stabilizer for my '64 from SOR (small pic). They say that it is applicable to my year, but after installation I'm not sure. The other two pics show a gap (about 3/16") that leave the mounting post exposed. Is this meant to be like this?

I also have a few more general questions. Having purchased a silver star for the second year I can still only attach 3 photos at a time. Is this the max for the silver star subscription? I want to post pics of my completed resto/mod, but don't want to do it 3 pics at a time. As stated above my '64 is all but done and I am looking for another project. If anyone is aware of a '64-'65 40 or 45 for sale I would be interested. Location is no problem. I bought this one in CA and I live in IN.

Howdy! Can't tell from the pix, but you might be able to reverse the mounting stud. I think the big end with the square shoulder should be in the rubber bushing. John

I have been running mine like that. Have not broke it yet. Its a tapered shaft...if it slid all the way to the flare...it might not be tight. At least thats my excuse.

Where in Indiana? I'm moving down there in May, going to be looking for wheeling buddies.

Does it slide up and down the shaft like that, is it possible to either shim it out via washers or spacers? Have a friend or wife turn the steering wheel for you and take a look at it. If there's play in there instead of smooth action then you may want to shim it up. Hope that helps.

yup, three pics maximum for any post no matter how many stars you buy

just make sure you don't break the stabilizer bracket off the tie rod while wheeling  it was the heavy duty Skyjacker bracket no less
