Rehabbing front end of my rig. 313k miles.

Ran into this when cleaning up PS spindle for new spindle bearing, brass bushing, and seal.

Is the ID of the axle tube a critical spec? Thinking of just sanding down those ridges (somehow the axle chattered in the tube at some point??). Have a lead on used ones (200k+ miles). Of course new or aftermarket are options.

Also outside threads are boogered up a bit too but confident I can work with those.

I don't want to ruin the new Toyota ($$) axle I have going in it... Thanks!

The ID of spindle make no difference. Provide no burrs protrude into center rubbing on axle. Which is not likely any burrs long enough to.

The threads are a different matter. You'll need to chase or file the threads. I once spent 5 hours filing spindle threads. No more!

Now I chase with a 42mm:

Determining if bent is difficult. Even with know straight.

@2001LC thanks confirming about the ID of tube. That was my main concern about saving the spindle. The roller bearing was in bad shape on this side, so I'm thinking that, plus loose wheel bearings and flange teeth allowed the axle to wallow around in the tube.

I'm picking up one of these rethreading files (will use the 1.5mm pitch side) to work on the outer thread damage on the spindle/knuckle, plus a triangle file.
