When I make tight turns in either direction in my 1995 lc, moving backwards or forwards I notice that that my tires start resisting the turn that I am making and if I keep making that turn the wheels on the front axle start skipping (when I am moving forwards). When I am backing up and making a tight turn in either direction the same thing happens.

To continue making the turn the I have to press on the gas.

P.S. Lockers are not engaged.

Sounds like center diff is engaged. Do you have a center diff switch?

all LCs have center diff locks...some have a center diff lock switch and some don't. From the factory it engages when 4wd shift lever is shifted into 4lo

What year is your truck?

It is a 1995.

So what you are saying is that the center diff lock may not have disengaged after I put it into 4wd high.

It definitely sounds like a locker issue.

Since it is a 95, is has a Viscous Coupler (VC). The center diff lock automatically engages when in low range. When in high range, the CDL is NOT engaged unless you place it in 4L, Remove the fuse, then place in 4H.

If it feels like the CDL is engaged, the it could be that your VC has started to fail.

Do a search for recent threads on the VC. You can live with it, or remove it, or replace it.

just for sake of argument drain the front and rear diffs. If you get chunks of metal then the problem is with your 3rds. On my LX the rear gears were chewed up pretty bad and it had some of the symptoms you are describing. Plus it would be the time to do some of the maintenance as well.

do you have factory lockers you could have possibly engaged?

It does indeed sound like the v.c.like bilt4me has stated.do you know much history on your truck.someone in the past may have ran different size tires on it and burnt up the old girl.

Thanks for all the help. I will start working on some of the suggestions you gave me and see if it helps.
