Friends,

I've just replaced my steering box, and I'm in need of both steering heat shields. As far as I can tell they are unobtanium (frankly, I'm not even sure of their part numbers). I know that these are there for a reason, and I'm at a loss to figure out a replacement.

For those of you who had similarly rusted out heat shields, what did you?

Fabrication? Any other ideas?

Thank you, as always for your help.

best regards,
O.N.

Early models of FJ60 didn't have them. It's one of those mid cycle sustainable engineering upgrade things Toyota does. Some guy's salary probably had to be justified so he came up with the idea at a product development meeting.
It doesn't do much, like the distributor rubber boot cover

Thank you OSS. I really appreciate this info.

Just about every time I make a post here I always leave something out. My truck is an '88 FJ62. Your comment was spot on.

all the best,
O.N.
