steering column replacement

I'm looking to put a toyota pickup steering column in my 73 FJ40 in a power steering conversion. I understand the early column will fit ok. Do the early and later columns match up? I have some one offering me a 84-88 column but I dont know if it will fit. Thanks for your help.

Funny, I'm looking for a 84-88 column for my 1969 FJ40. I can tell you the FJ60 columns are too long. When I measured the column in my 85 4Runner it seemed just right. Now, I (we?) just need to try it.
