That's not bad.I’d called them back in ‘16 swear it was in the $300 range and that’s not including shipping.
Auburn is about a 45 min- hour drive for me. I'll probably put that on my long list.

Rockauto has it. Pretty sure when I did mine back in May ‘16 that’s where I got it. Watch the YouTube video by bleepin jeep, it’s the best one out there, lighting, speed, almost the exact as ours, lots of great tips in it.
The two control rings for the worm gear are too big tho so get them from your dealer. Then read the thread that @CenTXFJ60 wrote regarding tips we discovered for putting everything together for the vertical shaft (I think that’s the output).

@Swampcruiser45 seriousky watch the video before anything. Guy gives a great tip on the bearings w/ grease and a zip tie. Worked perfect for me.
Yes, search bleepin jeep gear box rebuild. Is it on YouTube?
Best to get the Pittman removed from the box while it’s still attached to the truck, that’s where most go wrong. I had a cheap puller, I’m a 124lb girl and I left the tire on and it was no sweat.Pitman arms are a pain. Cheap pullers won’t work. I had to borrow a snapon from local club member and POP it was off.
Just started on mine. Does the pitman arm have to be removed completely, or just at the steering shaft?Best to get the Pittman removed from the box while it’s still attached to the truck, that’s where most go wrong. I had a cheap puller, I’m a 124lb girl and I left the tire on and it was no sweat.
Alternate a puller (loosen nut but keep it on) and several hard hits of a mallet on the round end of the pittman (the end that faces the rear of the truck) to vibrate it down and off the box, then pull box. It’s a bear to pull the pittman w/o the weight of the truck holding it.Just started on mine. Does the pitman arm have to be removed completely, or just at the steering shaft?
Yeah that taper shape really takes blows of a mallet well. Jiggles the two right apart easily. Mine were actually held together longer because the puller and nut were in the way of allowing the pittman to drop down.I've employed the double hammer trick on things like pitman arms before. Basically hitting opposite sides of the arm on the splined end at the same time...the opposing hammer blows help focus the shock into breaking the seated shaft free. Often works well on tie rod ends as well.

To me. The bleeping jeep video is totally different from an fj60 steering box
A box is a box. I’m a female, minimal mechanical knowledge and I’d never rebuilt anything and my gear box was my first task back in May ‘16. I followed that video and everything went totally smooth. I had no one holding my hand what’s so ever.
Really wasn't too bad once I figured out how it all worked. If you order the Gates rebuild kit for $29 you have to deal with all the ball bearings anyway.
I also had to improvise on special service tools (SST) for the Teflon ring expander and compressor. Zip ties around a plastic water bottle and a socket.
