Im in need of having my PS box rebuilt....The PO lived down a bumpy dirt road about 1/2 mile off the pavement... The box has been fully bottomed out as far a adjustment,
Asking for a good PS box rebuilder.... probably west coast for shipping and down time..

thanks for your input.....

reach out to BZ Rebuilders in California. they rebuilt my smog pump, and they're info states they can rebuild a box. definitely confirm with them.

Red head did a great job for me and fast turn around.

found a thread refering Master Steering in El Monte ..... anyone use them ??

Redhead all the way - If I were you I'd find a junkyard box out of an 80 series and mail it to them. Then the downtime on your rig is minimal, and you can sell them back your core too to offset the cost.

I did sell them my core so you could call and see if they're willing to rebuilt it, came out of my 86 but I would recommend the 80 series box though. It's a direct bolt up and is a nice upgrade.

If your steering box is got the same pattern as that of an fzj80 i say, see if you can score one of those and ruin it if in good condition.....i used west Texas of road, but that was a century ago (it seems) and I don't know any more if they would be reliable... good to know about the outfit in el monte as they would be relatively close to me. I might try them with my spare that needs a rebuild...
Ask @TRAIL TAILOR he probably has a reliable builder.

Am I the only one who has not had a good experience with RedHead? Leaking almost immediately x2 on two separate rigs. Technically I feel they are really just ‘resealing,’ not ‘rebuilding’ so if anything they shouldn’t leak almost immediately after getting it back. Refused to send it back to them the last time it happened…

Cruiser outfitters might sell theb80 box with the good shaft. Would need to deal with pitman arm IIRC

We stock new 80/105 boxes with the appropriate pitman arm as well as rebuilt boxes with stock 80/450 parts or the upgraded 105 internals. Reach out to our parts team for info, info@cruiseroutfitters.com

To answer the OPs question:

BZ Rebuilders in Canoga Park is a good outfit though I've never used them for PS Box. All other work has been excellent.

I've read threads about the place in El Monte but never been there.

Kurt would be the source for an 80-box, should you want to go that route

I had my 60-Box done at West Texas Off-road, but not sure they're around anymore ( I think they're called 'Redneck Ram', now?). That was 15 years ago and still working perfectly.

I'm not sure, but Mark at Mark's Off-road in Burbank may still rebuild PS Boxes. You'd have to call and ask.

Contact Tabatha at ADVANTAGE STEERING- 760-202-9990 Indio, CA
They are extremely professional and knowledgeable. 60 and 80 Series RH and LH models. Sometimes they have a rebuilt on the shelf, but offer a R&R service as well. IIRC they make their own 80 box as well.

3 year warranty on rebuilds

Usually a 3-6 days turnaround.

NEVER AGAIN! Had too many failures on the rack or within 250 miles. All with seal leaks from lower or head adjustment area.
