My last steering box was leaking on the input shaft so I returned in under warranty. I just installed the new box but am having an issue. It turns all the way to the right really easy but turning left it only goes about halfway to the left and then the steering pump squeals. It will then go the rest of the way left but it acts like it's struggling to do so.

I have the pitman arm centered as much as I can (i think). I've centered it a few times and think it's about as close as I can get it.
Help! Thanks in advance for any help.

when you first installed the box did you fill the pump and turn your wheels without starting the engine?

Not sure, what would that do? I can't really remember what I did at the start. Is there something I need to go back and do? Do you think I might have air in the system still?

I'm looking through some notes I had here regarding power steering box installs, they note to raise front end off the ground, start engine and slowly turn the wheels from left lock to right lock, turn off engine and refill pump. Repeat as necessary til you remove all air in the system.

I thought I remember hearing to turn wheels to both lockouts with engine off first though?:hmm:

I'll keep looking

found it, these instructions came with an AGR box

Hey thanks, your instructions worked like a charm! Yup, that is my family. I'm originally from benson. How did you know?? If you ever need help w/ something, let me know. my rig steers like a dream now.

I think I have all the air out of my system and it still is a little harder to turn left than right. Any ideas?

Is the resistance with the rest of the linkage hooked up? Possibly a bind in the steering stabilizer or some other issue showing up at the wheel. Other than that I am unsure.
