Hi All,

I want to get a replacement steering box for my Aug of 1985 US spec LHD FJ60. I want to use the steering box with p/n 44110-60212 which is still available new from Toyota (for now) and I believe it is an 80 series box. Can anyone confirm it will work on my '85 FJ60 before I order? And will the 60 series pitman arm bolt up on this box to the 60 steering linkage?

Thank you

The 80 series box will require minor re-shaping of the inner fender but otherwise will bolt right in, including the pitman arm. My build date is 07/1985. I just looked at what these boxes go for now, I see prices from 2-4k USD. That. Is. Nuts.

Cheers, James

The 60 series pitman arm will not work on a 44110-60212 which is a new steering box with the upgraded 105 series sector shaft.

Thanks for the correction. Someone must have updated my old box then at some point during its life as I was able to bolt on the pitman arm I had. Or, they updated the arm. Can you tell from my picture above?

Cheers, James

Thanks, good info. Will the 105 pitman arm "bolt up" to work with this box and the FJ60 steering linkage?

My truck is at the mechanic and he is not sure what parts we need to do this swap.

You will need the 105 pitman arm, and you’ll need to either
1. modify it with the appropriate reamer to accept the 60 TRE
Or
2. (More expense/effort, but what I would do)
Build (or have someone like me make for you) a custom drag link to use a 80/105 TRE

I also normally stock the 105 boxes and pitman arms
