I hate to ask this, but I've searched and can't find a solid answer.
I have a 60, that I would like to put steel 16" wheels on. I saw one that I liked, which the owner said had FJ40 rims. They looked like the old split-rim, but had a modern tire mounted.
My question is-
Was there an old style FJ40 rim, that is one-piece and will clear disc brakes? If so, what year range, or identifying features, should i be looking for? I am not really interested in the wagon wheel style.

Thanks

Any USA 40 series steel wheel sold originally on a 08/75 and later truck will be 15" and of welded construction, vs, riveted like the drum brake 07/75 and earlier trucks would have been sold with. The welded steel wheel is compatible with disc brakes.

16" steel wheels were common outside the USA, and occasionally there are 16" split rims that show up in the classifieds section.

So what I'm looking for is an imported item and not very common? My second choice is the 70 series wheels, but they are a little pricey and not as good looking IMO.

Thanks for the clarification!

That's exactly the style I like. Are they only available in split rim?
I dont know much about that. Do you have to run tubes with splits? Is it really hard to find a tire shop that will change tires for you?

I am not too familiar with them.
Google "Toyota Split Rims" and a ton of info comes up. I have heard U.S. based tire shops don't care for them much. The installer below does use tubes.

This should help:

I understand the dangers of seating the bead, but are there any other downsides to using them? Are tubes a pain to deal with?
