So here is my starting problem

1. sitting overnight or long enough to cool down - cranks but doesn't start (I can sit and crank it as long as I want)
2. turn ignition off then back on it fires up but the tach shows an electronic stumble right at first (revs jumping around too fast to be real representation of revs)
3. Starts great after its been warm, no hesitation.

Acts a lot like when the camshaft possition sensor was giving me trouble, I solved that by cleaning the terminals to the connectors and greasing them with dielectric. Now its back.

I took off the terminals again last night and cleaned and degreased them. I also replaced the FP relay with my spare just to be sure. It seems to idle nicer which is a bonus but neither stopped the problem. No codes. VC120 replaced the stock charcoal canister about 30,000 miles ago. Plugs are new and gapped properly, wires are in okay shape (80k old) and the 3rd party dizzy is about the same story.

My current guess is the 3rd party dizzy is not working properly. Not stoked to buy an OE distributor at $500. Any thoughts?

When I crank is the CEL on? I think so, but I can't say for sure. Is there a way to capture that code through the OBDII?

Not related to code. When the key is turned to run and when starter cranking, the CEL light should be on. It is a great diagnostic tool, with any fail to start, it's the first thing to check. Any interruption in the light, can indicate an interruption in power to the ECU, no power to the ECU = no run.

Good to know. Feeling fairly confident is related to the cps since it's doing exactly what it did before. Pulling the cap and cleaning connections better tonight to see.
