...Warn M8000

Surprised after all the major "best of class" upgrades that you put in an 8k winch. A 12k or 15k seems more like it... The 8k is really too small if you plan on taking this out where you might get really stuck.

Never had any issues with the M8000. Have seen way too many frames destroyed with 12k+ winches. 8k's plenty for my needs, is inexpensive, has a proven design that works flawlessly, and besides, I usually use a snatch block anyhow to reduce stressors.

"frames destroyed"...??? Tell us more please. Destroyed how? Poorly mounted winch? Dramatic side pull? Inquiring minds want to know....

Not that difficult really. Just take one 12-15k winch, add offset winching angles, bind up the suspension, and add someone ignorant behind the controller. Besides, I also like to carry more than 80 feet (in some cases 50 ft). Always seems as though I need 125-150ft.

...and this just arived as well...care of Downey Off Road. Now I gotta figure out what hoses match the LT1 and Downey's radiator.

Some of those engines have bleed hoses to bleed off entrained/cavitated air from local high points.

You mean the steam hose? Got it covered.

Got all the tools, and parts assorted/ready for some opened axle action tomorrow.

Dropped the Longfields in over the weekend, with ARP studs, and finished with the 4Runner brake upgrade. My old calipers were totally shot anyhow. BTW: anybody who says this is a small day project ought to be drug out and shot. Its ridiculously filthy. 7 rolls of shop towels, 7 cans of brake cleaner, 3.5 lbs of moly lube, 3 qts of amsoil gear oil, 3 pinched fingers, and lots of frustration later and I'm done. Had to get the wheel studs pressed in, but otherwise did the job with basic tools, and blood...The 30's are in!

ARP knuckle and hub studs to keep things tight/strong. Also added the Longfield hub gears to make sure I've got the lifetime warranty. If I can break these I've got far worse problems...

I really was amazed at how much grinding it took to get the Longfield 30's to clear. More work than originally thought, but would be a much easier job now that everything is properlt toleranced.

Thanks guys!

Also got the Specter Off Road Tuff Duck rear seat cover set. VERY nice!

Thanks bro. Just keeping track of the progress, and hopefully it might help someone with thiers. Dropped the Downey Off Road Aluminum Radiator last night, and am very happy with it. Jim was great, and it fit like a bloody glove. Added some spacers and rubber washers to prevent alum/steel corrosion, and got my steam vent fitted. Went ahead and flushed the AT lines as well while I was there.
