I did some research to help put a value on my FJ40 I'm trying to sell, I researched automotive blogs, eBay sales prices for April, May, June and spring/early summer 2016 auction prices. The $180k Cruiser sold in 2015 was not an FJ40. It was an FJ45LV and probablY shouldn't be included in the average.

There's the saying there are three kinds of lies: lies, damned lies, and statistics.
You have to assess each vehicle individually. The definition of "restored" varies widely.
I can't speak to more recent trends since I don't watch it closely anymore, but I can tell you that $5k for a restored truck is 1998 is way too low. I shopped for a FJ40 around 1995-1997 and average trucks were listed in Auto Trader every week for above that.
