Greetings from South Africa

I have a '95 FZJ80, still completely stock. I've got a brand new set of 33" MTR's I'd like to fit, but I need a little extra clearance to fit them. The intention is to do a complete suspension lift, but at the moment I just want to make some billet aluminium spacer so I can fit the 33's.
Does anyone have drawings or pics of how to make some spring spacers for my truck.

Thanks!

check on www.sleeoffroad.com he has some spacers. Doesn't show how to make them, but can give you some ideas. Or you could just buy his stuff. Slee, the only way to go with an 80.

Thanks, I've seen Christo's spacers, but it not worth importing them all the way to SA, besides I've got the ally and the machines to do it. Just don't want to go through the mission of stripping everything to take measurements if somebody else has done it already and is willing to share the info.

Hey JT, good to see a fimiliar "face". Are you talking about Formula suspension? I've spoken to the owner of Bloem Safari 4x4 who also has an 80 and experiments with a different set-up every 6 months. He says the el-cheapo Formula even outperformed his current Dobinsons set-up. I am defintely thinking about going the "formula" way, unfortunately I won't get to that before I go on holiday, but I'd still like to put on the 33's and they best way to do it quikly is some spacers.
Please send me Mic's number.

By the way, it's Barto from PE, not Bartho from CT :)

for the US trucks at least, the consensus is that 33" fit just fine on a stock truck

the front ones are easy to make. Just remove the top spring plate and use it as an template for the spacers. I used 1/4" thick alum plates to come up with various thicknesses. Haven't done the rears but can't be too difficult I'd imagine.

I'm running 33 x 12 inch A/T tires on my us spec 80 with stock suspension - no problems.

I ran 295/75-16's at stock height.

Works great, not difficult if you have access to the machinery.

Thanks Kevin, I think I'll go your way. I'll check again maybe only needed for the front.
The stock suspension has sagged quite a bit and the tyres don't fit in the front at the moment.

umm, if they sag that bad, wouldn't you be better off putting in new and improved springs, considering you have to take the thing apart for spacers anyway, you'll need to soon regardless, and it's safer?

Yaa, what E said. I would think it would be easier and better to just put OME on it and be happy. :D

Barto sorry for the confusion :) I have the formula set up and I have no regrets, I will move to the Rancho shocks when these ones are due for replacement.

Are spring spacers going to work without longer shocks, I think you will end up limiting the travel of the suspension, but I could be wrong here.

I made a set of fronts and rears for my 93. The rears are basicaly just a donut that goes above the springs. The fronts are two plates like slee's. I did it mainly because i was bored and had no money. 5/8" in the rear, 1 1/4" in the front. It leveled it out a bit.

Yes, I know it is not a good idea, but it is temporary. I only bought the tyres because I got it through a staff purchase for a very good price. Now I have to save up for the suspension mod, the stuff is quite expensive over here. You guys can buy a full 6" kit for $2995 from Christo and I have to pay $1350 for 4 2" springs, 4 shocks and castor correction kit.

JT, Yes the travel will be limited, but I've got the detroit in the rear, so the limited travel won't that much difference for now. My friends in their Landy's, Isuzu's and Rangers still won't keep up.
