My spindles have some pitting on them and before I put it all back together I'm wondering if there is anything I can do to the surface to help fill in the imperfections.

I hope I don't have to buy new ones!

What do you guys think?

I was thinking of maybe filling the pits with some black rtv or something.

God no don't buy new ones. Clean up any loose/scaling rust, and install. RTV if it makes ya feel better.

Is that all? I've seen worst. Some good cleaning and RTV will take care.

SUPERBLACK RTV
its like duct tape only for gaskets that have contact with oil...

a good wire brush and rtv will take cae of that like new.

That IS a picture of it with all the loose scaling removed.

What you see there is pitting(material that has deteriorated).:meh:

Maybe this picture shows more of what I'm talking about.

Again, this is no loose scaling...this is what the surface looks like now as clean as it can get.

Mmmmkay, that doesn't change my recommendation any.

RTV as you correctly mentioned and move on. Don't go crazy, even a skinny bead would do it. It's really that simple. No it's not ghetto and no it's not gonna fail.
BTW, that's been wire wheeled at best, you could remove more rust :flipoff2: Google EvapoRust. It's not a gotta-have-to step, but just an FYI since you stated that's the best rust removal you could get.

dude that s*** doesn't matter, put it back together and run it. jeez

Not that these trucks compare but....Good thing you're not building the Space Shuttle!:flipoff2:
