My speed alarm is buzzing at all speed range and occasionally gives continuous buzz even while completely stopped
Please advice what could be the reason for such action
1994 land cruiser

Thanks

OK, I'll bite, What's a speed alarm?

ok
when you go above 70 mph there is buzz sound, this is called speed alarm ;p

I don't think I've got one. Been over 100mph w/o any buzzer.

I am not aware of any speed alarm on US spec 80s. Please elaborate. What model, country, etc.

Oh, well I'd fix it by locating the buzzer and bashing it with a BFH. :D

I thought yours had one in the passerger's seat like mine does..........

its 94 locked all stock UAE Dubai
;p
thats all

That may explain our lack of familiarity with that feature. If the vehicle was an export to that part of the world, the speed alarm likely was a feature in place because of that market. US specification 80 series 80's do not have that feature present.

If you can track down the buzzer you may be able to unplug it. If the buzzer is part of some type of control assembly you may be able to take it apart and kill the power to just the buzzer.

When I spent a few weeks in Japan the vans we rented had a "chime" that was activated when we exceeded ~100km/hr, I think it was to keep you from speeding because it was so annoying. I was under the impression that all JDM vehicles had it and it was illegal to tamper with it, it sure was annoying!

Most of the vehicles in the Middle East have some form of speed alarm installed, either a light, or a really annoying buzzer. I believe it's a state-mandated thing. Everything I drove in Kuwait had something that went off when you went over 120kph.

Those of us who have never driven outside the U.S. will be wondering what the heck we're talking about, here...

And, I'm not sure that it can even be disabled, legally. Probably worth a ticket, if the police ever stop you with it, although I'm not entirely sure how they'd tell if you did disable it.

Trying to fix this, I'd get myself a wiring diagram, and trace the wiring to where it plugged into the speedometer or speed sensor, then back to the buzzer. Somewhere in there, there's a short. The FSM for Dubai should have a diagnostic tree, somewhere, I think.

The Land Cruisers in Kuwait had all kinds of cool little features/bugs like this. The one I saw that I really liked was the dual fuel tank filler neck that had two different openings, one for each tank, with one cap covering the whole thing. No need for a switch, like the Aussie models you see on Specter or Man-A-Fre. If I ever get back there, I'm going to find a junk yard, and rape every 'cruiser I can find for parts. Some of them might be available from Gibralter Stockholdings, LTD, which has a cool website with all sorts of drool-worthy things on it, at:

Anyway, that's all this newb has to contribute to this thread...

thanks Cdan I will try diging my way to the buzzer and i will let you know

take care
:)

i had an old chevy C10 pickup with an adjustable needle on the speedo that you could set to any speed. when the indicator needle hit the adjustable needle it would close the circuit to a buzzer.. sure.. whats the point if you can set it where you want it right?
i just cranked it all the way up and never heard it again.

you might be able to pull the connector to the buzzer but that same connector might do other things. i remember a thread on a tacoma board about how to disable the ..door open with key in ignition.. buzzer. turned out that the buzzer harness shared some connections with other things. someone came up with a way to hack it but i found it was easier to stick a big wad of sculpting clay on it.
