now that I added the new tires and wheels I need to mount the spare and was wondering if anyone has any input on what the largest tire will fit in the factory location I have 295/70/17 and if I modify the bracket under there I was hoping to fit it. I have a Yakima roof rack but the roof is a last resort. Don't really have the cash for the ARB Rear bumper with tire carrier right now.

Any Ideas are welcome.

20 dollar solution.

I modified the factory location and raised it 4" and can stuff a worn out 315/75R16 under it. THe biggest benefit from modifying the factory location is that it raises the front of the spare above the differential.

I did mine 3" it went past level & up it cost $30.00
I have read of being able to get a 35 under there just as stated with a 315 just posted above.

1/2" & 3/4" NPT nipples?
Both they didn't have enough of the 1/2".
It worked out well. Make shure your bolts are 1/2" longer than the nipples. Also get the stronger 8.8 bolts. 1.25 mm thread.

The AJIK kit is fantastic. No guesswork, and I believe it is Far Stronger than the home made pipe approach. That spare weighs a lot, and I don't want it bouncing around down there. I'm really happy with my AJIK kit, and I think it's a good value.
I don't work for AJIK or have a dog in the fight. I just think it's a good value and a good product.

I just installed the AJIK Kit and I wish I would have made a video. it worked out great it was very easy to install and the instruction manual was very detailed and illustrated. I added the larger spare tire and fit great and I even have added room for the hitch receiver.

Thank you again

I recommend this Kit to anyone looking to reposition the spare tire.

I used to have the AJik tire mount mod, it did raise the entire tire to be level...

Within that thread, I also am interested in understanding if the AJIK kit raises the entire tire, very interested in learning from those who've purchased it. thx!!
