Gut it.
Rip out everything not made of metal.
I have a spare rear seat. A real nice one. Had it reupholstered to match the front buckets. But I never haul extra people anymore.
So I took my other spare rear seat and gutted it. Now I can haul lots of extra parts.
It still folds up and down. Still latches at the rear wheelwell in case you haul something you want to keep back there. Pretty easy to swap back and forth if need be. It's lighter this way, too.

Sounds like a good plan to me. My plan is to be able to fold mine down and sleep in the back when I go out camping and wheeling.

what a neat idea.
i'll probably end up using my back seat a fair bit and the top half is in good condition, only a few small rips.
i also plan to be able to sleep in the back occasionally when the weather is too bad etc. i measured it and is only a little shorter than a single bed matress, so i'm stoked.

I likea that. I'm thinking that when the time comes to bob and unroof my pig that the rear seat back might make a good Avalanche type gate. Maybe move the latches so it latches up vertical.
