Dunno if anyone's done this, but when you fit later CV's (the longer ones) [what you guys call 'Birfields'] on a part-time 4wd 80 with Aisin hubs the shafts of the CV's take up all the space inside the back of the hub (once new snap-ring grooves have been cut to correct the CV position) and I've seen reference to spacers that go between the back of the Aisin hub body and the main wheel hub itself but never come across any place making them.

Of course the other option is replace the CV's with shorter original style ones. At the time I bought what I'm using now, the original style HDK's weren't available. So I went for longer ones (with ABS ring) and adapted them to suit (the new snap-ring grooves).

Craig.

Those rings are just so yiu dont have to cut a 2nd groove in the later birfs. They dont space the actual locking hub body out, they just prevent the birf from sliding inboard into the diff when you dont have a 2nd snap ring groove.
