We made it 15mi from the Colorado state line tonight. So hopefully we can start early enough to get to Pikes Peak for a run up and then to Ouray in the evening!

Pic from Ellsworth,KS this afternoon. Fun little road to the turbines too!!!

Couldint have been more than 6 or 8 hrs behind me.. Gosh how I hate that Kansas I-70 drive.. LOL

Nice pics guys. Maybe add these to the Facebook page, if you can. Thanks.

Wow, it's a lot of work packing for a week away! Have a few things I need to pick up tomorrow during lunch, finish packing after work, then hoping to get a few hours down the road tomorrow night. Otherwise, it'll be a long day on Wednesday to get from Deep South Texas to ABQ, NM before 10:00 pm when I have to pick a buddy up at the airport there (easily 14 hours). I see some of y'all doing a long drive like that in one day, but it sure seems like a tough haul.

On a less than desirable subject, I'm struggling to find a suitable "potty" chair. I went by Academy and Walmart today and the 3 legged plastic stool looks a little to flimsy for my comfort level. Yeah, I know you're not suppose to plop your rear down on these things, but not sure my 9 year old will get that. Any suggestions on another product line I could pick up?

This will be my first trip in this land cruiser. Up until now, the few times I have driven it has been within 2 hours of my house (for where I live that's a very short trip). A little apprehensive about getting on the road. I recently had a cat changed and the dealership supposedly looked things over and all checked out fine. I've changed the oil, checked other fluid levels, and have brand new AT tires installed. It has a 2011 Toyota battery, so crossing my fingers it holds up. No mods installed (except portable CB) that will be pulling on it.

Looking forward to meeting up with y'all on Thursday morning.

I think there are portable toilets (we bring the bags) for the campsite. But I would think if nature calls on the trails it will be bucket time...pick you up some bags and a 5Gal bucket, it will all work out.

Don't be afraid of a good ol' Home Depot or Lowes bucket with a $5 plastic commode seat on top. Line the bucket with a wag bag, $5 seat on top of that and fire away.

You can even modify the seat with small blocks of wood so it almost "snaps" onto the top of the bucket. If you do that, you'll want to cover the holes you drilled with glue or tape to keep from scratching your bottom, but for about $10 and 15 minutes of your time, you've got a portable pooper that even a 9 year old would use. Even better, this is a great project for a 9 year old to fabricate with a little guidance from the old man!

Memories and good times with friends and family. That's what this is all about. What kid wouldn't remember building and using his own pooper?

It's 7:30AM, I've been wide away since 4:30AM...time changes suck.

I forgot to add in the time zone changes! Looking up Amarillo right now.

Looks like I'll be headed out early morning tomorrow. Was hoping to get some drive time in this evening, but I'm still 2 hours to get home from work and need to pack. Going to be a long run to get into ABQ by tomorrow night.

Bama and I have the same drive and it's gonna suck. You can do it!

No matter how far you drive, I40 sucks! I20 isn't that much better either. I'd rather love out west than have to drive out here!
