Well, I just started hearing a faint " cricket " chirping sound from the transmission area of my '87 BJ73... the sound is continuous whenever I am driving, when I push in the clutch its gone. Does this sound like a throwout bearing? And if so, where is the best place to source a replacement in Calgary? Any advice would be appreciated... thanks!!!

Thanks Stone... Has anyone purchased the clutch replacement kit for the 70 series from 4Wheel Auto in Edmonton? I'm just curious about the quality of the kit, and if there are any other options as far as where to purchase other kits as well... Thanks

I think if I drive with that sound for years I will lose my mind...

I had that same sound from my tranny on my 88' bj74... now it just got worse.. time for a rebuild... fun stuff.

I'm buying a clutch kit that orignally came from 4wheel auto. I'll let you know when it gets put in.

sounds like the release bearing on it's way out...

i have used many kits from Dan and Kevin and have had no problems...
cheers

Wayne, do you happen to know if they sell just the release bearing on its own?

yah, you can do just the release bearing but when you are doing this much work it just makes sense to replcae it all while you are in there...

You're totally right... Thanks
