Sound deadening under heat shields? (1 Viewer)

I have some Boom Mat sound deadening I would like to spray under the passenger floor pan over the heat shields. It is rated to 300 degrees. Safe or going to melt?

Reading that you can check your cats with a ir thermometer. How hot should the 80's cats be after driving for a while on interstate? With the heat shield on I think you only take a temp off the exit pipe from the cat. From what I understand, you just take a temp of the exhaust before it enters...

I would think that a rating at 300° is the average of what those shields deal with.

Especially low speed crawling in the heat, not a lot of air moving down there.

i did and it helped a lot! especially i did a few layers around the trans tunnel and on the whole floor board, door panels, quarter panels, etc.. I did everything except the roof - - maybe thats next once i get the patience to take out the headliner..
