I have a ticking noise coming from the front left wheel some where. Clicks while driving straight or turning and matches vehicle speed. Ive checked everything around the wheel and brakes and now starting to think maybe CV? I'm the second owner and bought it at 27k, now at 70k miles. Driveline is greased every 5k. How do i inspect the CV or does anyone have any other ideas? Can't believe CV would be bad, hasn't been wheeled hard at all.. Its driving me nuts and don't know how to replicate it other than driving. Thanks.

Check for a torn boot maybe? Could be leaking grease.

Ha, I have many stones stuck in my tires, but that's not it. CV boots are clean with no tears.
He wasn't joking.
My busted CV clicked while turning, but not going straight. That's not a definitive test, but my guess is a rock as well.

Yeah, rocks in tier was my first check. It clicks straight as well as turning. I notice it more going straight. May have to just go to the shop with it since I can't figure out how to isolate it.

Do you have wheel spacers? I had the same issue, boots were clean, dust shield wasn't an issue, couldn't figure it out. Ended up pulling my wheel spacer and it went away.

no wheel spacers, all stock. Can find no rub marks on rotor or anything. Click matches about one revolution of wheel like something is hitting.

I believe the noise was coming from a bent rotor dust shield. I could not find the point of contact and didn't pull the rotor to look. What I did do was bend the shield slightly away from the rotor in several spots and the noise has disappeared for now. I suspect I hit the shield during one of my wheel re-mounts after a brake change or tire rotation since it's so easy to do when getting the wheel back on the studs. Hope this helps someone. The noise was pretty audible and not subtle. Nice and quiet now.
