very simple and quite cheap.:hhmm:
2LTE turbo and plumbing
13BT exhaust manifold
assorted fittings

torque from 1000 rpm to 3000 rpm :steer:

under a grand.

anyone interested in a thread?

I'm considering a turbo on my 3B in the future; so sure, Wayne, post up! Thanks!

yeah, find me a new 13bt manifold for 450- 500 bucks and we can go from there... the remaining ones are being hoarded away by the dealers that still have a couple kicking around and then there are the fawkers who sell them for 700 bucks on their website..

i really hope these aftermarket ones that they are working on dont end up being a piece of s*** that crack in a few years of use..

i have full plans on doing a turbo before Black Hills cruiser classic again this year.. cheaper is better though unless its s***.. i have no problems paying for quality if its worth it..

Dave at Japan 4X4 or John at Radd Cruisers should be able to help you out...
thead tomorrow.

yup.. found out about these when the post was posted and then talked to ebi, rocky mountain, mustang and 4 wheel auto last week about no one having any originals anymore.. i am more annoyed with myself than anything that i didnt buy two last year when i was thinking of buying them to do an eventual turbo conversion on both of my 3b's before they went obsolete..

i hope the ones you get back from your over seas connection are of a good quality. like high nickel content, etc, etc, etc and/or whatever makes a good manifold.. you can sign me up for two if they are a normal price and dont crack within the first two years.. over seas castings seem to have up/down consistancy sometimes.. its part of the reason why i dont shop at trailgear anymore..

oh yeah, i also got an email back this evening from dave at japan 4x4.. none left.. cant remember if i tried john at radd..

anyways, i am looking forward to what wayne has to post up regarding this turbo setup... carry on..

damn bad news,
if i had known they were heading to that great Toyota obsolete parts bin in the sky i would never had sold this one ...
MFGDSB ...

maybe he will not like the turbo and i will grab it back ...

Wayne, did you ask Dave? He gave me a great price on an OEM split turbo manifold for the Troll a few years ago. I would be surprised if he could not at least find some good used ones.

cruiserparts.net had some last I checked but they were $600. I got mine form 4WheelAuto

It would be interesting to see what compressor the 2LT uses cus most of the smaller 2.5L diesels I have seen that use a garrett use a 9B compressor which is really quite small for a 3.4L. When I mapped the 9B for the 3B I think it runs off the map at like 2700rpm pushing just 10lbs. At 15lbs its off the map at 2400rpm. Just a thought.

yep, wicked power down low.
this wouldn't be a turbo for those that like high rpms ...

I do remember a thread about the little dodge d-50 turbo and after doing some research I found that it is a tdo4-9B-4cm housing. If you want that kind of performance, go with that turbo. I personally feel it is too small on both sides. Compressor dosent flow enough and a 4cm housing will choke pretty early as well. I am putting a tdo4-13t-5cm housing and am thinking it too is a little too small of a housing even though my larger turbo will be doing most of the work above 2000rpm.

all i know is it works for this application, and to be honest, that is all i care.
the truck seldom sees over 3000 rpm and sees a lot of off road use where bottom end grunt is useful.

on my PZ (almost identical displacement 3B-3431 vs 1PZ-3469) i am installing a T3/T4 hybred that rocks.

this install was to allow all those dead 2LTE engines to be able to supply the 3B with some cheap low end improvements.

at no time did i suggest this application was for those that like to rev their 3B pass 3000, and mind you, not a lot of 3B owners do push that engine into the 3500-4000 rpm range.

cheap and easy to install, even the exhaust dumps in almost the proper place so the stock exhaust is still used.

so this is the turbo mounted to the exhaust manifold mounted to the engine.
we used a fixed oil feed line from the oil shut off supplied T fitting.
we tried to use a direct oil return feed down to the pan but it went too close to the turbo so we added a 45 degree feed away from the turbo heat.
then a temporary line down to the oil pan.

the we took the 2LTE exhaust to the flex and welded a 2" pipe to it. 4 zip disc'd slots to allow compression and a exhaust clamp.
cut the factory exhaust pipe to the proper length.
